Walnut is a common nut in life. Due to its extremely high nutritional value and unique taste and flavor, it has been recognized by consumers. The number of farmers planting walnut trees has gradually increased. The following small series will introduce the breeding method of walnut for everyone.

1. Sowing and breeding

The collected seeds are sown in spring or autumn at the right temperature. Spring March April best sowing time. Seeds must be seeded after stratification germination, direct seeding is difficult to germinate. Stratification sites are warm and sunny, and generally, a layer of sand and a layer of seeds, maintaining temperatures of 2 to 5 degrees. Humidity is at 60%. After layering for two months, you can take it out and sow it. So the stratification has to be done ahead of time. Or in the seeding before soaking with cold water, soaking suppression, a day for water, a week after exposure to fried shells can be seeded. Hole sowing, sowing horizontally, covering soil about 6 cm, then watering, management.

II. Grafting seedlings

Hickory is generally used as rootstock, wild hickory, strong adaptability, resistance, stem strong. Grafting other varieties can result in early fruiting. Scion A healthy, disease-free, annual internode of a robust parent plant selected from excellent varieties. Many scions can be preserved in wet sand. Rootstock diameter requirements in 1.5 cm or so, 10 cm from the ground about the position of grafting. Grafting should be done immediately after cutting. Wounds affect survival. Scion can be placed in mouth to prevent wounds. Generally, cleavages are used for grafting. After fixation, check frequently and remove the membrane after survival.

III. Cutting propagation

General cuttage is the fastest way to grow seedlings, cut the upper part of the mother plant from one year to three years old branches, to 1.5 cm thick branches, take branches about 15 cm long, but also need to trim some, about the last cuttage 10 cm branches. Three to four leaves should be left on the upper part of the branch, and then the lower end can be soaked with rooting powder alcohol solution, and then the cuttings should be placed on a wet seedbed, covered with pine needles for insulation, covered with a sunshade net, controlled between 18 and 25 degrees, no more than 30 degrees, and no less than 10 degrees. Later maintenance is required.

Walnut common propagation methods are sowing, grafting, cuttage, operation is not easy, so, to use more methods to help propagation. However, each of these three methods has its own advantages, and everyone can decide according to the actual situation.
