Can blackcurrants be planted in the south

Blackcurrant is not suitable for growing in the south. Blackcurrant is native to Russia and is relatively hardy. It is not easy to survive in the south, and it is difficult to bear fruit even if it survives.

Second, the planting method of blackcurrant

1. The planting of blackcurrant fruit trees can be divided into two periods: spring and autumn. Spring time is generally in the first and middle of April, the land has just thawed, when the soil moisture is good, seedlings are easy to survive. Planting seedlings in spring should be done sooner rather than later. Autumn is planted in mid-October and can grow normally without slow seedlings.

2. the planting land should choose the areas with sufficient sunshine, flat terrain, deep soil layer, close to water source and convenient drainage and irrigation. if it is planted in the mountain area, the slope should not exceed 15 °, and the sunny direction is the best. After selecting the land, clean up the weed residues in the planting land, apply basic fertilizer combined with ploughing, and plant in rake fine leveling and other places.

3. The main propagation methods are cutting and striping. In autumn, select strong branches from the mother plant to intercept 20-25cm cuttings and store them in a cool place. After heating up in spring, the branches will be trimmed to a length of about 10-15cm and then they can be cut. The young plants will grow and sprout about half a month after planting, and with proper management, they can be planted in autumn.

During striping propagation, the annual new branches are peeled in spring and pressed into the soil about 5cm depth, waiting for rooting and sprouting, while the soil is cultivated to expand the rooting range, and it can be separated and planted from the mother plant in autumn.

4. The fruiting trees were treated with farm manure and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer.

5. Water should be fully watered at every stage of the growth period.

6. In order to promote the root growth of fruit trees, the rows will be turned twice and shoveled once during the growth period. Deep ploughing is carried out in autumn with the application of base fertilizer, with a depth of 15-20 cm. Ploughing between rows was carried out before blooming in spring.

Blackcurrant is mainly planted in the north of China, so it is better for us to choose the crops to be planted according to the actual situation.
