Although chili pepper was introduced into China after the Ming Dynasty, it is the largest and most widely consumed spice. And chili peppers are also widely planted in various places. How do you grow chili peppers? Let's learn about it together.
How do you grow chili?
1. Land selection and preparation
Chili peppers like temperature and light, are sensitive to external conditions, and avoid drought and waterlogging. It is necessary to choose plots with better conditions for water conservation, fertilizer conservation, drainage and irrigation. Therefore, the plot should choose the land with near water source, fertile soil, good drainage and irrigation, loose ventilation, and no eggplant fruit vegetables such as eggplant, tomato, Ma Ling potato and other crops in the previous 3-5 years. It is best to turn over sloping land in autumn, ridge in autumn, and fertilize land in autumn.
two。 Seed treatment
Soak the seeds in warm water or with chemicals for 18-20 hours, then remove them to dry and pile them up, turn them every three or four hours, so that the internal and external temperature is uniform, sprout for about 48 hours, and sow when the buds are slightly exposed.
3. Sowing seeds
Before sowing, the bed soil is fully wet, fine and flat. The width of the seedbed is generally 1.5-1.7 meters. Generally do not soak the seeds to promote budding. Early-maturing species are generally sown in January, and late-maturing species are generally sown in February-March. Planting per mu requires sowing 75-120 grams. After sowing, cover the seeds with fine soil mixed with old bran ash or coal ash, water them, and cover them with plastic film after receiving water.
4. Colonization
The suitable soil temperature for planting hot pepper is above 15 ℃. Because of the low soil temperature, slow growth and falling flowers, the pepper can not achieve the goal of early maturity. The planting distance was 40-50 cm for early-maturing varieties, 1-2 plants per hole for early-maturing varieties and 66-73 cm for late-maturing varieties, and 1 plant per hole for early-maturing varieties, with row spacing of 40-50 cm, plant spacing of 26 mi 33 cm, and plant spacing of 50 cm for each hole. Choose to plant in the afternoon on a sunny day, and the seedling bed needs to be watered in the morning to pull the seedlings.
Finally, do a good job in field management such as weeding, fertilizer and water. When the fruit is ripe, it should be harvested in time, otherwise the growth and fruit of the plant will be affected.
