When do southern rice ripen?

Rice is one of the main food crops in China, which is planted in most areas of the south and north of our country. When will the rice mature in the south?

There are two crops a year in the south and three in Hainan.

Ripening time of rice in various parts of the south

The rice in Jiangsu three-line hybrid medium indica rice area is generally sown in the first and middle of May, the ripening time is generally in the first ten days of October, and the whole growth period is about 140 days.

Mid-maturing japonica rice varieties planted in Huaibei area of Jiangsu Province were sown in early May, the maturity time was generally mid-late October, and the whole growth period was 150-160 days.

Late-maturing mid-japonica rice varieties are planted in Jiangsu Province in the middle of Jiangsu Province and Yangzhou Hilly area of Ningzhen. The varieties are usually sown in the first and middle of May. The maturation time is generally in the middle and late October, and the whole growth period is 150-160 days.

Rice can be planted in southern Jiangsu, with two crops a year, early rice in late July and late rice maturing in mid-late October.

There are mainly single cropping medium rice in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Most of them were sown before and after the Qingming Festival and were transplanted in early May (before and after the Beginning of Summer and Lesser Fullness of Grain), and harvested in mid-late August.

In the plain of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, early rice is sown in the first and middle of April, transplanting in early May, harvesting in late July, followed by immediate transplanting of late rice (called double grabbing), which usually ends before the Beginning of Autumn, and late rice harvest from late October to November.

Fuzhou City, Jiangxi Province is entering the harvest period a few days ago! The harvest of double-cropping rice early rice in mid-July and late rice in early October was delayed by more than 10 days. The harvest of early rice in late September was 1-3 days earlier in southern Jiangxi.

In addition, there are two seasons of rice planting in southern China. In the first season, rice was planted in late April and harvested in late July. In the second season, rice was planted before August 1 and harvested at the end of October.
