In 2014, the state launched a pilot project to subsidize the target prices of soybeans in Northeast China, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang, abolishing the original temporary storage policy and letting the market determine the prices of these two types of agricultural products. Just a year after the trial of this policy, corn, which is still implementing the temporary collection and storage policy, has been pushed into the limelight. On September 18 this year, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Grain Administration, the Ministry of Finance, the Agricultural Development Bank and other departments jointly issued a notice: the purchase price of temporary storage corn is set at 1 yuan per jin, which is 0.13 yuan lower than the temporary storage price per jin last year. This is the first time in the seven years since the implementation of the corn temporary storage policy that the purchase price has turned downwards. So, what is the impact of the reduction in corn temporary storage prices? The reporter rushed to Princess Ling City, Jilin Province, which is known as the "hometown of corn" to conduct an investigation.

Grain brokers grain depots sell grain in twists and turns, corn prices are low, farmers do not want to sell!

Zheng San, a grain broker: now the mildew is getting old and serious, everywhere, that is, mildew grains, more or less, to see if they exceed (standard).

In the listening room of Jinfeng Grain Depot in Dayushu Town, Gongzhuling, Zheng Sanyi, a grain broker, leaned motionlessly in front of the listening window, waiting for the dust of corn prices to settle. Whether he can successfully pass the checkpoint and sell it at a good price is still unknown in his mind.

Just more than ten minutes ago, he helplessly saw a truckload of corn rejected by the grain depot because the mildew grains exceeded the standard, which made Zheng San worry about whether the two carts of corn he had collected were up to the standard. Once rejected, it means not only a waste of transportation costs, but also a reduction in the price of threshed corn. Zheng Sanyu, who stood outside the listening window, was nervous at the thought.

In just a few minutes waiting for the result, Zheng San, who was just standing outside the window, couldn't wait to stick his head into the small window. Not only was Zheng San worried, but Jiang Jingchun, who sold grain, was also unsure. In this way, the two stayed in front of the price window, waiting anxiously.

In order to get a good price for corn in these three fields, at 4: 00 in the morning five hours ago, Zheng San set out to Jiang Jingchun's home, which was dozens of kilometers away to sell grain.

Grain seller Jiang Jingchun: I sold it for eighty-five cents last year. How much is the difference?

Zheng San: don't think about the price. The country will lose all of it, not only yourself, but also nationwide.

Like Jiang Jing Chun's family, directly "lying on the ground" after corn harvest, it is easy to have the problems of fever, mildew and waste, which is directly related to the final sale of corn. After much consideration, Jiang Jingchun decided to sell more than 3 grains of corn in the family first. So he contacted Zheng San, who comes to collect grain every year, and the two sides finally negotiated the deal at a price of 70 cents.

The two sides finally negotiated the deal at a price of 70 cents.

At 04:30 in the morning, when the temperature in Northeast China had dropped to minus 7 degrees Celsius, there was a thick layer of frost on the surface of the corn stacked on the ground, just like the depressed corn market, which made Jiang Jingchun and Zheng Sandu feel a slight chill.

Jiang Jingchun: the land can not be covered this year, the price will be reduced. Last year, they came to take my land, and I told jokes. He said he wanted 10,000 yuan, and I would pack it if I returned 10,000 yuan.

Zheng San: I can't plant it this time.

Jiang Jingchun: I'll quit like this. I can't do it. I can't do it for ten thousand yuan. How much money can be left in farming?

Jiang Jingchun: last year, a bare land could produce at least 289 jin. There will be a difference of four or five thousand jin for 24,000 or five thousand this year.

Jiang Jingchun's corn production has been reduced due to the weather this year, coupled with lower prices, profits are significantly lower than last year.

Jiang Jingchun: 70 cents per jin, more than 18000 yuan. You go to a cost of more than 9,000, and then you go to 8,000 to 10,000 bags of land. If you count 8,000 or 10,000 yuan, you have to lose money.

Jiang Jingchun told us that excluding various inputs such as chemical fertilizers, labor, seeds, pesticides, and so on, this year he can still have a surplus of 7,000 to 8,000 yuan. However, due to the reduction in his corn production, coupled with the price reduction, the overall income of this year will be about 5000 yuan lower than that of last year. At 07:30 in the morning, after more than three hours of busy work, Jiang Jingchun still had the last small part of the corn left unfinished. Looking at the corn in his yard, Jiang Jingchun couldn't be happy.

On the whole, the income of this year will be about 5000 yuan less than that of last year.

Reporter: apart from watching TV, is there any other way to know about grain prices in previous years?

Jiang Jingchun: this thing goes with the market. You go to the grain depot and ask. You go to a few grain depots and ask. How much is the grain depot? We're done.

At 08:30 in the morning, all Jiang Jingchun's corn was loaded into the car. Half an hour later, two cars arrived at the gate of Jinfeng Grain Depot in Dayushu Town. At this time, there are still a few days to go before the country goes public to buy corn, and some farmers have begun to line up at the gate of the grain depot to sell grain.

At 08:30 in the morning, some farmers who came to sell grain began to line up at the gate of the grain depot.

In the room waiting to hear the price as soon as the grain depot enters the door, the corn has to go through the calculation of water content, the proportion of mildew grains, and so on, and finally figure out whether it meets the standard and give the price. Although Zheng San and Jiang Jingchun have already agreed on the price of 70 cents, but then whether the grain depot can buy corn, and give in line with the expected price, both people are nervously looking forward to it.

Ten minutes later, the results came out.

Grain station staff: 77 cents and 5 cents.

The price of 7.75 cents far exceeded the expectations of Zheng San and Jiang Jingchun. It was 7 cents and 5 cents more per jin. Based on the output of 25000 jin of corn in a plot of land, one plot could earn an extra 1875 yuan. A big stone seemed to fall to the ground like this. But the careful Zheng San soon found a problem on the list of grain sales, and the rare surprise was splashed with cold water.
