They are: peanut area of Huang-Huai basin; spring and summer peanut intercropping area of Yangtze River basin; spring and autumn double-cropping peanut area of South China; early-maturing peanut area of Northeast China; peanut area of Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau; peanut area of Loess Plateau; and inland peanut area of northwest China.

II. The situation of the main provinces (regions) producing peanuts

(1) Shandong Province

Peanut cultivation in Shandong Province is distributed all over the province, mainly in the hills of Jiaodong, the mountainous area of south-central Shandong and the plain of western and northern Shandong.

1. Jiaodong hilly region

It mainly includes all of Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai and some counties (cities) of Weifang City. It is the main peanut producing area of Shandong Province. The cultivated area accounts for nearly 40% of the total area of the province, and the total output accounts for 42% of the total output of the province. The peanut producing areas in Henan Province are mainly distributed in the alluvial plain of the Yellow River, the shallow mountain and hilly basin in the south of Henan, the plain in the middle of Huaibei and the mountainous and hilly area of northwest Henan. The soil for planting peanuts is mainly river alluvial sand and hilly sand and gravel.

(4) Guangdong

Peanuts in Guangdong Province are planted all over the province, mainly distributed in Leizhou Peninsula, Jianjiang Plain, Hanjiang Plain, coastal hills, Pearl River Delta and other places.

The cultivation system is complicated, there are two-year, three-year and two-year five-year system, most of the peanuts are sown in spring, some autumn peanuts and a small amount of winter peanuts. The planting varieties are mainly pearl bean type small grain varieties.

(5) Anhui Province

Peanut producing areas in Anhui Province are mainly distributed on both sides of the Yangtze River, Huaihe River and their tributaries, the old route of the Yellow River and sandy wasteland.

The cultivation system is mainly spring peanut and wheat field intercropping peanut, part of summer direct seeding peanut, barley stubble and rape stubble. The main planting varieties are pearl bean type medium-grain varieties, and some of them are common type and intermediate type big peanut.

(6) Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous region

Peanut producing areas are widely distributed in Guangxi, and they are planted in all counties in the region. The planting area is larger in Nanning, Liuzhou and Guigang, followed by Wuzhou, Beihai, Qinzhou and other places (cities).

The cultivation system is mostly two crops a year, three crops in one year and five crops in two years. Mainly spring peanuts and some autumn peanuts. Most of the planting varieties are pearl bean type medium and small grain varieties.

7. Sichuan Province

The distribution of peanuts in Sichuan Province is relatively scattered, distributed in 137 counties (cities and districts) of 19 cities (prefectures), with larger planting areas in Neijiang, Mianyang, Yibin, Nanchong and other cities (districts).

The cultivation system is mostly two-cropping system in one year, mainly interplanting peanuts in wheat field. Most of the cultivated varieties are intermediate type and pearl bean type.

(8) Jiangsu Province

Peanuts in Jiangsu Province are mainly distributed in Xuzhou, Huaiyin, Yangzhou, Nantong and other cities in the province.

Most of the cultivation systems are two-year three-cropping system and one-year two-cropping system. Spring peanuts are planted in Ganyu, Donghai, Xinyi and other counties (cities) in the north of Jiangsu Province. Taixing, Jiangdu and other cities (counties) in the south are mostly wheat field interplanting or summer direct seeding peanuts. Most of the cultivated varieties are intermediate or common types of medium and early mature peanuts, and some pearl bean peanuts.

(9) Jiangxi Province

Peanuts in Jiangxi Province are mainly distributed in Ganzhou, Jinggangshan, Jiujiang and other places (cities) of the province.

The cultivation system is mostly two-cropping and three-cropping in one year, mainly spring peanuts and a few autumn peanuts. Most of the planting varieties are pearl bean type medium and small grain varieties.

(10) Hunan Province

Peanuts in Hunan Province are mainly distributed in the hilly areas of central and southern Hunan, around Dongting Lake and river alluvial sand.

The cultivation system is mostly two-cropping system in one year, mainly intercropping peanut in wheat field, intercropping in some young forests of Camellia oleifera and rotation of flood and drought. Most of the planting varieties are pearl bean varieties.

(11) Hubei Province

Peanuts in Hubei Province are mainly distributed in eastern Hubei and Jianghan Plain, with large planting areas in Macheng, Hong'an, Dawu, Tianmen, Zhongxiang, Jingmen and Hanchuan.

Most of the cultivation systems are two-year cropping system and some two-year triple cropping system. Mainly to wheat field intercropping and summer direct seeding peanut, some flood and drought rotation fields. Most of the planting varieties are pearl bean type.

(12) Fujian Province

Peanuts in Fujian Province are mainly distributed in coastal counties (cities and districts) such as Fuqing, Huian, Jinjiang, Zhangli, Tongan and Putian.

The cultivation system is mostly two-cropping and three-cropping system in one year. Most peanuts are intercropped with sweet potato and wheat fields, and some are intercropped with rice. Most of the planting varieties are pearl bean type.

(13) Liaoning Province

Peanuts in Liaoning Province are mainly distributed in the southern and western hilly areas of the province. Shenyang, Fushun, Anshan and other plain areas also have a certain area, and there is a trend of development, and a small amount of planting is also found in the sandy areas of western Liaoning and eastern Liaoning.

The cultivation system is mostly one-year cropping and two-year three-cropping system, some one-year double-cropping system, mainly spring peanut, some wheat field intercropping or potato rotation. Most of the planting varieties are intermediate and early-maturing varieties and pearl bean varieties.
