Last Updated: 2024/09/19, Schizonepeta tenuifolia is a commonly used herbal medicine, and many people use tender buds to stir-fry vegetables, which can be used to relieve phlegm, dispel wind, stop vomiting and treat influenza, headache and fever, so how to plant seeds? First, the sowing of Schizonepeta tenuifolia is relatively dense, and the fertilization is not suitable during the growing period.

Schizonepeta is a commonly used herbal medicine, but also a lot of people use sprouts to cook, can be used for anti-phlegm, Qufeng, anti-vomiting and treatment of influenza, headache fever, etc., so how to plant Schizonepeta seeds?

1. Land preparation

Schizonepeta is densely sown, and it is very inconvenient to fertilize during the growth period. Therefore, after the land is selected, more base fertilizer should be applied. More than 2000 kg of organic fertilizer such as compost, manure or fumigated soil can be applied per mu. The base fertilizer should be added to the continuous cropping land, and nitrate nitrogen fertilizer should be prohibited. After the base fertilizer is evenly spread on the ground, the ploughing depth is about 25 cm. After deep ploughing, it is made into a bed about 1.2 meters wide and 10 cm high. In order to improve the germination rate of seeds, irrigation and soil collapse should be carried out after the bed is made, and then shallow turning should be carried out after the soil is dry. Soil treatment granules can be applied before ploughing to prevent underground pests from damaging seeds and affecting germination rate. The ground should not be dug too deep. 5~6 cm, leveling after sowing.

II. Sowing

Before sowing, seeds should be screened, impurities and damaged seeds should be picked out, and then soaked in water for 12~24 hours. After taking them out, they should be dried in a ventilated and dry place. This can speed up the internal metabolism of seeds, enhance vitality and improve germination rate. Because the seeds of Schizonepeta are small, in order to make the sowing more uniform, you can wait until the surface of the seeds is dry and mix appropriate amount of fine sand or fine soil. The ratio of seeds to sand is 3:1. After stirring evenly, you can sow. In the ridge with tools along the ridge trenching, ditch spacing about 20 cm, ditch depth about 5 cm. Sprinkle the seeds into the ditch, usually with a seed amount of about 1 kg per mu.

After sowing, cover the soil 1~2 cm thick, with feet slightly solid, and then use iron rake flat, so that the seeds and soil close contact. Watering after sowing keeps the soil moist, which is beneficial to seedling emergence. It takes 10~15 days for seedlings to emerge when the ground temperature is 16~18℃ after sowing. If the ground temperature is 19~25℃ and the humidity is appropriate, seedlings can emerge in about 1 week. The soil should also be kept moist before and after emergence.

III. SEEDLING

When the seedling height is 6~10 cm, the weak seedlings and young seedlings are occasionally over-dense. When the seedling height is 10~15 cm, 2~3 seedlings shall be reserved according to the row spacing of 10~15 cm for seedling determination. If there is any lack of seedlings, the large seedlings and strong seedlings shall be transplanted with soil. It is better to transplant on cloudy days and avoid being carried out in strong sunshine. When transplanting seedlings, bring more original soil as much as possible, and water them in time after replenishing seedlings to facilitate seedling survival.

IV. Weeding

Intertillage and weeding are the key measures for good growth and development of Schizonepeta tenuifolia, mainly loosening soil, increasing ground temperature, regulating soil moisture and eradicating weeds, so as to promote root development and ensure healthy growth of seedlings. When seedling height 5 centimeters or so, loosen the soil with a small hoe and cut the ground to prevent root injury. Young seedling intertillage should highlight the three words "early, shallow and fine":"early" refers to intertillage in time after emergence;"shallow" refers to intertillage depth not exceeding 5 cm to prevent root injury, seedling injury and moisture loss;"fine" refers to intertillage depth consistency, loose and finely divided soil.

After Schizonepeta enters the growth period, it is also necessary to cultivate and weed frequently, keep the field loose and weedy, carry out 1 time in about 20 days, or re-determine according to the specific situation, sow because of inconvenience of cultivation, so pay attention to weeding, or appropriate cultivation 1~2 times, generally closed after the inconvenience of loosening. The soil should be loosened lightly to avoid damaging the roots. Intertillage should be carried out when the soil humidity is moderate.

5. Water and fertilizer

The seedling stage of Schizonepeta needs more nitrogen fertilizer. In order to promote the growth of culms and ears, phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should also be applied appropriately. When the seedling height is 15~20 cm, some chemical fertilizers are sprinkled between the anterograde, and urea is 10~15 kg and cake fertilizer is 25~40 kg per mu. The seedlings should be watered regularly to facilitate growth. The drought resistance ability of adult plants is enhanced, so irrigation can be stopped, but there is no rain for a long time in summer, the soil moisture content is below 8%, and the plants should be watered lightly when they are wilting, and the watering amount should not be too large each time. Schizonepeta is most afraid of waterlogging during this period. If there is too much rain, the accumulated water in the field should be drained in time to avoid causing diseases. When the seedling height is 20 - 25 cm, potassium chloride is added 10 kg, furrows are opened, and soil is cultivated after application. When the seedling height is more than 30 cm, 60 kg decomposed cake fertilizer can be applied per mu, and a small amount of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be applied. In July, Schizonepeta tenuifolia enters the later stage of growth. At this time, field management is generally not carried out, and natural growth is allowed, which can inhibit reproductive growth, facilitate vegetative growth, and improve yield and quality.

Schizonepeta has a strong adaptability and is relatively simple to plant. Medicinal value is also good, very suitable for planting.
