When will the northeast millet be sown?

Millet is fond of high temperature, suitable temperature for growth is 22-30 degrees, and it is suitable for cultivation below 1000 meters above sea level. it belongs to drought-tolerant and stable crops. It is native to China and is widely planted in northern China.

The suitable sowing season for northeast millet is spring, which is usually sown from April 20 to May 20, and the sowing time is not exactly the same in different northeast provinces and cities. Heilongjiang generally sows around April 20; Jilin, Liaoning and other areas generally sow seeds from the beginning of May to 20.

2. Cultivation techniques of millet

1. Select the place

To plant millet, we should choose loose soil, flat terrain, thick black soil layer, good drainage, high content of soil organic matter, reasonable rotation, and sow millet seeds on the land where millet has not been planted in the previous crop. After the plot has been selected, it is necessary to prepare the land carefully and well.

2. Seed selection

Select the seeds of good quality with strong stress resistance, high yield, good commodity and nutrition; do a good job in seed treatment, carry out wind screening and brine selection of grain seeds, remove blighted grains, grass seeds and sundries, dry the seeds in the shade, and then treat them with insecticides to prevent underground pests and white diseases.

3. Sowing seeds

Sow early at the right time, and start sowing when the temperature is stable through 7 ℃, mainly to grab soil moisture and sow seeds, fine soil preparation, step on a good grid, and cover the soil evenly. If a hard cover is formed in case of rain after sowing, the hard cover is broken with a canopy or other agricultural tools to make the whole seedling strong.

Establish a reasonable population structure, flat land, high fertility plots, higher density; low slope and fertility plots, lower density, generally flat land, higher fertility plots, 35-40 000 seedlings per mu, sloping land and poor fertility plots, 3-35000 seedlings per mu.

4. Fertilization

The base fertilizer is mainly farm manure, which should be mixed with calcium superphosphate and applied to the soil during ploughing or ridging.

Generally, the application of diammonium phosphate 10 kg per mu and nitrogen fertilizer 5 kg as seed fertilizer can promote the early growth and rapid development of millet seedlings and meet the nutrient needs of millet during the growth period.

In addition, the millet should be weeded and loosened so that it can grow better.
