Last Updated: 2024/09/20, Calendula is a very common flower, which can be seen indoors, parks, roadside green belts and other places. The planting area is relatively large. So how to plant calendula seeds? First, the sowing time of calendula has two choices: spring sowing and autumn sowing, if you choose to sow in spring.

Calendula is a common flower found indoors, in parks, and in green belts along roadways. The range of cultivation is relatively large. So how do you plant Calendula seeds?

I. Sowing time

Calendula can be sown in spring and autumn. If spring sowing is chosen, February to May is the most suitable month, and if autumn sowing is chosen, August to October is the most suitable month, during which the germination rate of calendula is the highest. If you want to know more specific sowing time, you need to make specific analysis according to local climate and other conditions. After all, China has a vast territory, including different climatic zones and topographic zones. There are obvious differences in temperature among different places, and the optimal sowing time is not completely fixed.

II. Soil

Calendula has no special requirements for soil. In general, well-drained sandy soil can be used for its normal growth. However, in order to avoid pests, it is best to deeply treat the soil before planting, and if conditions permit, disinfect it.

III. Germination

Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water for one or two days to expand the seeds, which not only can make them germinate quickly, but also ensure the uniformity of germination. In the process of soaking the seeds, the dried seeds floating on the surface can be removed, which can also effectively improve the germination rate. In addition, when sowing, the soil should not be too thick, about one centimeter.

IV. Temperature

Calendula is not resistant to cold and high temperature. It cannot grow normally at temperatures higher than 34 degrees Celsius or lower than 4 degrees Celsius. Its most suitable growth temperature is about 15 to 20 degrees Celsius. Calendula also likes a relatively humid growth environment, but if the humidity is too high, it will also cause flowers to wither prematurely.

Calendula planting is relatively simple, the requirements for the environment are not high, whether it is family planting or greening, are very good choices.
