Sabina vulgaris is a kind of plant often used for potted plants, so how to raise it? Let's have a look!

I. basic introduction of Sabina vulgaris

Sabina vulgaris is an evergreen shrub of the family Cypress and Cypress, with dense, soft branches and creeping ground. The bark is reddish brown, flaky, globose, bluish and contains 2-3 seeds.

Sabina vulgaris is mainly distributed in Sichuan and Guizhou in China. Sabina vulgaris generally has no upright trunk, dense branches and leaves, distinct layers, green leaves, evergreen four seasons, elegant posture, long life and easy modeling. Sabina vulgaris has strong adaptability and can grow well in the south and north, so it is a good material for making bonsai.

Second, how to raise cypress?

Cypress should also be modeled before cultivation. When modeling, cypress should be more flat and less trimmed. Flat binding materials can be made of wire or brown wire.

Summer and early autumn are the exuberant seasons for the growth of Sabina vulgaris, and the sap is easy to overflow after pruning, which is disadvantageous to growth, so styling pruning should be carried out in late winter and early spring. Sabina vulgaris is generally bound for about 2 years before it can be finalized, and the branches are often restored to their original state if they are removed prematurely. After shaping, the wire should be removed in time, because the banding time is too long, the wire is too deep into the branch, which is not only disadvantageous to the plant growth, but also the trace is not beautiful, it takes about two years to eliminate the trace. The branches and leaves of Sabina vulgaris bonsai are mostly processed into clouds or natural ones.

The specific cultivation methods are:

1. Soil

Sabina vulgaris is suitable for growing in fertile, moist, well-drained neutral, slightly acidic or slightly alkaline soil.

2. Watering

It is often watered in summer and sprayed to the leaves once in the morning and evening. Less watering can be done in winter.

3. Lighting

The cypress is light-tolerant and can be planted in places with scattered light.

Among them, the culture soil can be prepared with 2Compact 3 humus soil and 1Compact 3 sandy surface soil. It is better to plant from March to April.

We should also choose different bowls according to different shapes, the cliff type should use purple sand cylinder basin, and leave the main root longer appropriately, in order to bear the pulling force of most branches and leaves hanging out of the basin; curved dry type can use oval purple sand basin or glazed pottery basin; oblique dry type, horizontal dry type with rectangular purple sand shallow basin is better to show the graceful appearance of the trunk.

In addition, Sabina vulgaris should also pay attention to fertilization and pruning in the process of cultivation, and liquid fertilizer should be applied every 20 days or so in the growing season; in the process of maintenance, overlong branches sometimes grow and destroy the tree shape, which should be cut off in time. In order to make the branches and leaves short and dense, it is necessary to properly pick the heart to facilitate the growth of lateral branches.
