The golden frog is an albino African Xenopus, flat and streamlined, with small upward-facing eyes, red iris, no eyelids and tongue, inconspicuous tympanic membrane, small front legs, thin and long fingers, and thick and strong hind legs. So how do you raise golden frogs?

I. Feeding methods

Xenopus laevis will embrace after sexual maturity, the time of embrace is about 4~6 hours, and then in the appropriate temperature (20 ~ 25℃) conditions can achieve many times less eggs. A female Xenopus laevis generally pregnant with about 1600 eggs, and the output of one time is 100 - 300. The eggs are milky white with thick egg gel membrane. The eggs often adhere to the tank wall, tank bottom and water plants. At this time, all adult Xenopus should be taken out to prevent breaking or eating eggs or embryos, which will affect the survival rate. It takes about a week for the fertilized eggs to develop to tadpoles, and the egg gel membrane begins to be absorbed in about 4 days, and the tadpoles begin to swim in 7 days. The tadpole is transparent, with a large head, brain composition and the direction of some cranial nerves visible on the dorsal side of the head. The ventral view of the head is close to pentagon, with two whiskers at the mouth and a long sharp tail. There is an oblique water outlet on both sides of the ventral surface. Tadpoles are filter-feeding, can be fed fine young fish bait suspension, turbidity should be tadpoles in 4 - 5 hours can eat net is appropriate. Tadpoles sometimes also eat rotifers and scrape green algae. At 20℃, the embryo can complete metamorphosis after 5 - 6 weeks from fertilization. During metamorphosis, tadpoles eat less or stop eating. After metamorphosis, Xenopus can eat earthworm or pig liver. Under indoor culture conditions, sexual maturity can be reached within 1 to 2 years.

II. Feeding

Adult claws wax feed 2 to 3 times a week water worm or pig liver tablets, generally do not need to give vitamins. The claw can actively seek food and use its forelimbs to push food into its mouth. Claw han afraid of disturbance, generally feeding at night. It is very gluttonous, food intake is proportional to the monthly weight gain, the daily weight t curve changes with the increase and decrease of food intake. The water in the sink should be changed regularly, usually after each feeding, to ensure the health of the clams and prevent disease. Under artificial conditions, the mortality rate is low, only about 2% per year, and the survival rate of larvae is about 75%.

After artificial breeding, the golden frog can be sold as a pet frog. When feeding, it can be fed with small fish, pig liver, etc. It is also relatively simple to raise.
