The producing areas of green onions in China are mainly Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei and so on, and the producing areas of different varieties of green onions are not exactly the same, such as:

Zhangqiu scallions from Zhangqiu City, Jinan City, Shandong Province; Shouguang scallions from Shouguang City, Shandong Province; Gaiping scallions from Liaoning, Eryingbai scallions from Hebei, and chicken legs from Longyao County, Hebei Province and Laiwu, Shandong Province.

1. Zhangqiu scallions

It is a specialty of Zhangqiu City, Jinan City, Shandong Province. Zhangqiu scallions are slightly spicy, slightly sweet, crisp, tender and delicious, and they are very white and easy to hide for a long time. The quality characteristics of Zhangqiu scallions can be summarized in four words: tall, long, crisp and sweet.

Gao: it refers to the tall plant of Zhangqiu scallions, which is known as the "king of onions".

Long: refers to the main product of Zhangqiu scallions-white onions are long and straight. Generally, the white length is 50-60 cm (the longest is about 80 cm), the diameter is 3-4 cm, the weight per plant is about 1000 grams, and the weight can reach more than 1.5kg.

Crisp: refers to the crisp and tender texture of Zhangqiu scallions.

Sweet: refers to the green onions of Zhangqiu, sweet and delicious, rarely spicy, most suitable for raw and cooked food. Zhangqiu scallions contain more protein, a variety of vitamins, amino acids and minerals, especially vitamin A, vitamin C and allicin with strong bactericidal ability.

2. Shouguang scallions

It is a specialty of Shouguang City, Shandong Province. The main varieties of Shouguang scallions are "chicken leg onions", "eight leaves Qi" and "hard leaf onions".

3. Cover flat scallions

Gaiping scallions are produced in Longwangmiao, Gaiping, Liaoning Province, with a plant height of about 1 meter. The leaves are erect, thick tubular, with waxy powder on the surface; dark green. Spring onions are tall and white, with a length of 45cm and a diameter of 3cm. The weight of a single plant is 200kg and 450g, and the maximum plant weight is 600g. Green onions crisp and tender, sweet and slightly spicy, strong cold resistance, no tillering, good quality. The output is about 4500 kg per 667m.

4. Erying white scallions

It is a local variety of green onion type in Longyao and Ren County, Hebei Province, with a plant height of 90cm and a degree of development of 18cm. The leaves are thick tubular and covered with wax powder, dark green. There are 8 functional leaves per plant. The leaves are 40 cm long and 1.0 cm thick. Green onion white cylindrical, 30cm high, 3.6cm thick.

5. Chicken leg scallions

The producing areas of chicken leg onions are Longyao County, Hebei Province and Laiwu, Shandong Province. The plant of chicken leg onions is 60ml 70 cm high, and the base is hypertrophic and tapering upward, similar to the upside down of chicken legs.
