How to plant longan saplings

Before planting longan seedlings, we should first prepare the soil, turn deeply and dig large holes according to the row spacing of 5 meters × 7 meters, and apply sufficient base fertilizer. Then the seedlings were planted in February-March in spring or September-October in autumn. After putting the seedlings with soil balls into the pit, cover the roots with fine topsoil and compact them, pour water into the roots and keep the soil moist. Pay attention to the following points after planting:

1. Pruning

Longan trees should cultivate natural round-headed crowns. Generally, within 2-3 years after planting, the trunk is 0.5-1 m, and 3-4 main branches are evenly distributed, then prune year by year, increase the number of branches, and finally form a dome-shaped crown. Within 3-5 years after planting, the ears of flowers should be completely trimmed to reduce the consumption of nutrients and promote the growth of summer and autumn shoots. The withered tip of ghost broom disease should be burned immediately. In addition, for drooping branches, over-dense branches, disease and insect branches, withered branches and other branches should be pruned in time.

two。 Fertilizer application

The longan tree can be fertilized one month after planting, and it is suggested that "one shoot and two fertilizers" should be applied, that is, the first fertilizer should be applied when the shoot top bud germinates, the new shoot elongation basically stops and the leaf color changes from red to green. In addition, organic manure is applied to winter fertilizer from November to December every year.

Generally, 3-4 shallow holes or shallow ring ditches are opened on the outer edge of longan tree rhizosphere, fertilizer is applied in the hole or ditch, and the soil is covered after application. It is better to apply liquid fertilizer in the dry season. At the same time, 0.2% color 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution can be applied in combination with spraying.

3. Watering

Keep the soil relatively dry before flowering (after autumn shoot maturation-later stage of flower bud differentiation). From flowering to autumn shoot emergence, the soil should be kept moist, the water supply should be balanced, water should be irrigated (or drenched) in case of drought, and stagnant water should be eliminated in time in case of rain.

4. Pest control

Downy mildew, blight, litter bug, wood lice, termites and wax cicada are all diseases and insect pests that often disturb longan trees. Food growers should take precautions in advance and spray corresponding pesticides.
