Pteris vittata is widely distributed in the subtropics and tropics of China. It is a terrestrial pteridophyte with certain medicinal value, so how to grow it?

1. Reproduction

The main results are as follows: (1) ramet propagation can be carried out all the year round, and it is better from May to June. At this time, the temperature is stable, the mother plant will be gently peeled off, separate stolons, every 10 cm potted 2-3 stolons. 15 cm hanging basin with 3-5 stolons. After planting, put it in a semi-shady place and water it to keep it wet. When new leaves sprout on the rhizome, put them under the sunshade net for maintenance.

(2) spore reproduction: rotten leaf soil or peat soil plus brick shavings was selected as the sowing medium and put into the sowing container. The collected mature spores of Dryopteris were evenly scattered into the sowing basin, spray to keep the soil surface moist, and sporophytes grew 50-60 days after sowing.

(3) tissue culture: terminal stolon, rhizome tip, aerial root and spore are commonly used as explants. Clustered seedlings were produced after 60 days of culture. The complete test-tube plantlets can be obtained by dividing the clustered plantlets.

two。 Planting

Put broken tiles and bricks on the bottom of the pot, then install loose, fertile, breathable neutral or slightly acidic soil, plant the propagated seedlings and cover them with fine soil.

3. Water and fertilizer

Fertilize once a month during the growing period, watering should be determined according to the dry humidity of the soil. In addition, the withered and yellow leaves should be removed at any time, and topdressing and pruning outside the roots should also be carried out in time. Pteris vittata needs to be sprayed several times a day in addition to watering in summer. The leaves of Pteris vittata are light green and glossy and full of interest, so they can be cultivated as family potted plants.

4. Temperature and light

Pteris vittata prefers warm moist and semi-overcast environment. The optimum growth temperature is 16-24 ℃ from March to September and 13-16 ℃ from September to March of the following year. Pteris vittata has a dry temperature of 8 ℃ in winter, but it can withstand 0 ℃ low temperature in a short time. Pteris vittata can also withstand high temperature of more than 30 ℃, but it is necessary to avoid being too dry and affect its growth.
