Mustard is cultivated everywhere. Salted leaves for consumption; seeds and whole herbs for medicinal purposes, can relieve phlegm and asthma, reduce swelling and pain, seed grinding is called mustard, as seasoning, it can be said that the whole body is treasure. So how do you grow mustard?

I. selection of sites

Choose planting field: mustard should be planted on sandy loam soil with high fertility, good ventilation, loose soil, good drainage and irrigation capacity and slightly more humus.

II. Land preparation

After selecting the planting field, use agricultural machinery to deep plough the soil once, the depth of cultivated land should be 30 cm-34 cm, after deep ploughing is completed, apply 4500 jin-5000 jin fermented circle fertilizer per mu, and then turn the soil once, ploughing the ring fertilizer to the ground, in order to improve soil fertility.

Make a border with a width of 1.3 m-1.5 m after soil preparation, and the width of the furrow should be about 25 cm-30 cm.

Third, sowing seeds

Dig holes and sow seeds on the border surface according to the distance of 18 cm-20 cm and 20 cm-30 cm. Each hole is sown with 2-3 seeds, cover the soil after sowing, then water once, and finally cover with a layer of straw or plastic film. Remove the mulch when the mustard seedlings are unearthed.

Mustard can be sown in spring and autumn. The best time for spring sowing is from early March to early April, and the best time for autumn sowing is from late September to early October. The climatic conditions of these two periods are very consistent with the growth of mustard.

IV. Field management

1. Check the seedlings to replenish the seedlings: when the seedlings begin to be unearthed, always check the emergence of the seedlings. After more than 80% of the mustard seedlings are unearthed, the seedlings should be carried out, and the weak and diseased seedlings in each hole should be removed, leaving only one strong seedling. If there are no seedlings growing in some seeding holes, the seedlings that come out of other planting holes should be transplanted into the holes lacking seedlings. When transplanting, the soil of the root system of mustard seedlings should be dug out together and planted in the sowing hole where there is a lack of seedlings. when moving, be careful not to hurt the roots of mustard seedlings, and water the fixed roots in time after transplanting, so that the roots of seedlings can be closely combined with the soil after planting, which can improve the survival rate of seedlings.

two。 Fertilization: the first topdressing should be carried out when mustard grows to 10 cm high, 40 jin-60 jin superphosphate per mu, and 90 jin-120 jin superphosphate per mu when mustard grows to 20 cm high. Note: some leaves can be harvested before topdressing when the mustard grows to 20 cm high.

3. Watering: after the seedlings are finished, water the strong seedlings once. After each topdressing, water should be watered once to prevent the plant from being burned to death by fertilizer. When it doesn't rain for several days in a row, pour more water, or the mustard will wither due to lack of water.

4. Weeding: after the seedlings are watered, they should be ploughed and weeded once, and the roots of the seedlings should be ploughed lightly to avoid damaging the roots of the seedlings. Weeding should be done to prevent nutrients from being absorbed by weeds. After the first intermediate ploughing and weeding, shallow ploughing is carried out every 10 days or so. Whenever weeds are found in the field, they should be cleared in time.

5. Harvest: mustard sown in autumn can be harvested after 35-40 days, and mustard sown in spring can only be harvested after 50-60 days. Whether sowing mustard in spring or autumn, it should be harvested when 10-12 leaves grow.

Mustard is rich in nutritional value, rich in trace elements, vitamins, dietary fiber and other nutrients, can reduce phlegm and asthma, swelling and pain, is a very good vegetable.
