When it comes to the autumn harvest, the problem of "difficulty in drying grain" is once again placed in front of farmers. In order to dry grain, the road is covered with "golden armor", which not only affects traffic, but also has greater safety risks. What are we going to do? Speeding up the construction of specialized agricultural cooperatives is a way out.

Camera 1: drying grain during the day and sleeping by the side of the road at night

In order to dry grain, farmers try their best to encircle the road, and even put stones, glass bottles and other obstacles in order to prevent vehicles from crushing into grain. As a result, the originally not spacious roads become congested, and traffic accidents and pedestrian falls occur from time to time.

There are also cases of drying grain on the road this year. On November 2, a citizen reported to the city's convenient service hotline that the road of Shengyu Avenue in the New Materials Industrial Park was covered with rice, affecting traffic.

At noon on the 3rd, grain was drying on the three driveways of Shengyu Avenue, and the edges of the rice were separated by sacks, isolation piles and red banner cloth. From time to time, trucks drive past grain farmers.

Mr. Shao is one of the farmers who are drying grain here. He has been here to dry grain for a week. In addition to him, there are several farmers "enclosed the land" along the road to dry grain, and there are also many farmers drying grain on the surrounding road.

He said that everyone knows that drying grain on the road is dangerous, but there is really no way. The road for drying grain is found by farmers themselves, which is basically a road with relatively less traffic flow, and the isolation piles used for warning are borrowed from nearby construction sites. However, despite the fact that everyone now has a place to dry grain, we thought that at the beginning, we had to "grab land" and "circle" the road with sacks ten and a half days in advance. Moreover, in the past few days, people ate and lived on the road. Just on the side of the road, there is a tricycle with a tent and a quilt inside. Mr. Shao has been guarding the rice in the tent every night these days, beware of people stealing grain.

Lens 2: the dryer in the professional station does not stop.

On the morning of November 3, the rice fields on the roadside of Fengshou Village in Xieqiao Management District were patches, and the golden ears of rice nodded frequently in the breeze. Under the blue sky, a red and white foreign horse harvester shuttles back and forth in the field. Under the skilled operation of the agricultural mechanic, the harvester is like an "electric fader", neatly shaving the rice field into a "flat head." the whole rice harvest and threshing operation was completed in the blink of an eye. The rice harvested by the harvester is unloaded directly to the parked grain truck and then transported to the farm machinery service station in the turning village to dry.

Chen Weixing, a logistics service worker at the professional station, said that what is being harvested is the rice field contracted by Wu Jianliang, a major grain grower in the village. He has contracted 572 mu of rice fields, and he has harvested more than 100 mu of rice and dried the rice while drying. The professional station was built last year, and this year the village spent more than 100,000 yuan to buy a dryer. This dryer can dry 5.5t of rice at a time. It has worked 24 hours a day, and has completed the drying of 130000 jin of rice. Due to the high water content and long drying time of the rice harvested at present, it takes nearly 20 hours at a time.

Chen Weixing said that when farmers planted scattered crops, each family managed their own mu of land and dried their grain on their own fields. After being contracted to large grain growers for planting, they received more than one million jin of rice at a time, but there was not so much space to dry it. After the harvest, the rice was dragged to the grain depot to dry. During the peak hours, there was a long queue of farmers waiting in the grain depot, and everyone was crowded together, so it was too late to bake. Now that there are dryers in the village, the problem of drying grain has been partially alleviated, but the number of dryers is still not enough. I hope to add a few more.

Shot 3: the whole process of mechanization from rice to rice

In order to alleviate the problem of occupying roads and drying grain, relevant departments in various towns of Changshu have also taken a series of measures to block and combine thinning. For example, the traffic police squadrons in Meili Town and Haiyu Town not only open internal venues to serve farmers every year, but also contact factories in their jurisdiction to vacate enterprise space for farmers to dry grain. These measures have been reported by this newspaper.

Providing space is one way, but as Chen Weixing said, wouldn't it be better if there were enough dryers to meet the needs of farmers? In this regard, the construction and development of specialized agricultural products cooperatives in Yusheng, Haiyu Town, provides a way of thinking.

The cooperative was established on August 15, 2012. it is formed by the three administrative villages of Qifeng, Xiaoqiao and Zhengjiaqiao in Haiyu Town, attracting nearly 4000 local farmers, covering 12000 mu of rice paddies, providing farmers in the region with unified means of production procurement and grain warehousing services, building a rice deep processing base, and carrying out one-stop business of rice production, packaging and sales.

On the afternoon of November 3, rows of dryers in the co-op "boomed". On the conveyor belt, the dried rice is transferred from the dryer to the next barn. General manager Dou Xianglong said that the cooperative has 22 dryers, which can dry 250 tons of rice at a time, and can complete the task of drying 500 mu of rice fields a day. Starting from September 28, the cooperative dries early rice in small batches. At present, all the equipment is running at full capacity. The rice dried by farmers this afternoon can be transferred to the granary tomorrow morning. Moreover, the rice entering the warehouse will enter the rice milling workshop in a short time. The rice that turns into white flowers is packaged and sold, and this series of processes are all mechanized.

Dou Xianglong said: the establishment of the cooperative has solved the problem of farmers drying and collecting grain, and at the same time, it will effectively promote agricultural efficiency and increase farmers' income in the three villages.
