Cabbage has a good development prospect, so it is also one of the highly selected plants for vegetable farmers. So, do you all know the cultivation techniques of overwintering cabbage?

1. Cultivation techniques of overwintering cabbage

1. Sowing and raising seedlings

Cold-tolerant and cold-resistant varieties should be used in winter cultivation, such as Hanguang, Hanguang 1, Haifeng 1 and so on. From late July to early August, seedlings were sown in sunshade and rain-proof sheds. Sowing too late to ensure that the plant forms fewer dense leaf balls before overwintering. If sowing is too late, the freezing damage will be serious. In order to ensure sufficient seedling strength, attention should be paid to watering, drainage, shading, topdressing and pest control, so as to ensure the whole seedling strength in high temperature and rainy season or high temperature and dry season. The use of sparse sowing seedlings is a method of growing seedlings at one time.

When the sowing density is too high, the seedlings can be divided into 3-4 leaves, and the seedling distance is 10-12cm. The seedlings were planted at 6-8 leaves and were 30-40 days old.

2. Planting and management

The suitable planting period for winter cabbage is from the end of August to the beginning of September. Before planting in the field, the soil should be filled with organic fertilizer and superphosphate. After ploughing, the soil should be divided into east and west according to the row spacing of 40~45cm × 50~60cm. Cabbage can be intercropped with winter wheat. Soil moisture should be maintained after planting to promote cabbage to slow down seedlings as soon as possible. At this time, water was applied once to promote the development of seedling stage, and then ploughing to preserve soil moisture.

When the climate is suitable from late September to early October, the growth of cabbage is large, and the water requirement of fertilizer increases. The amount of urea should be topdressing 225kg/ hectare. After that, the soil remains semi-dry and semi-wet, promoting the growth of lotus leaf seats and roots. By the middle and late October, the overwintering cabbage has entered the heading stage, so it is necessary to increase the supply of fertilizer and water, and apply 300kg potassium sulfate compound fertilizer per hectare to keep the soil semi-dry. Properly control leaf growth, promote leaf dry matter accumulation and improve cold resistance. In mid-November, the temperature dropped and cabbage entered a slow overwintering period.

At this time, the plant has a heart of 60-70%. In order to improve the frost resistance of plants, frozen water should be watered once. On this basis, the middle ploughing method was used to maintain soil moisture, and the outer leaves of the plant were raised, and the roots were cultivated with fine soil, buried to the basal petiole or slightly higher. Before the soil is frozen, cover the plant with plastic film (0.01 mm thickness), press it around with soil, or build a small arch shed to protect the overwintering. The soil should be thawed in the middle of February of the following year, and the soil temperature should be raised in time when the cabbage begins to turn green.

In early March, the soil should be irrigated in the morning on a sunny day, urea 225kg/ hectare. On this basis, more tillage methods are adopted to maintain soil moisture and improve soil temperature. 3. Harvest. From the end of February to the first ten days of April, the overwintering cabbage can be harvested according to the market situation, the dense cabbage can be picked in batches, and the frostbitten leaves can be peeled off in layers. It can produce 37500 kg of cabbage leaf balls per hectare, which is a kind of vegetable with market and high yield.
