Introduction of Chenxiang Grape varieties

Chenxiang is a precocious Eurasian species, which is a new variety bred by the cross between White Rose incense and White Rosa in Dalian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Aude Farm in Shanghai. The ear is large and conical, with an average ear weight of 650g and a maximum weight of 1200 g. The fruit is oval in shape, with an average grain weight of 10 grams; the pericarp is yellowish green, thin and unastringent; the flesh is delicate and succulent, with moderate hardness, rose aroma, high ratio of sugar to acid; moderate natural fruit setting, uniform fruit, no drop, resistance to hanging fruit, no return to sugar, good quality.

1. Advantages:

Maturity: 90 days from bud to maturity; aromatic substances: rose fragrance, better flavor than Zaoxia rose

Pulp firmness: crisp, rich in juice

Sugar content: high, generally more than 18%

Fruit brush tension: larger, more resistant to transportation

Flower bud differentiation: excellent, suitable for short pruning

Resistance to hanging fruit: trees can be hung for 2 months after maturity

Fruit size: the average grain weight is 10 grams, the maximum is over 12 grams

Secondary fruit: excellent performance.

2. Defects:

Promoting early cultivation is easy to size grains, overcast and rain in flowering season is easy to size grains; leaf yellowing is serious, no matter it is small tree or mature, the leaf yellowing of Chenxiang is very serious, even if it is alleviated by supplementation of trace elements, it is difficult to solve fundamentally, and the lower leaves will fall off automatically before Chenxiang matures.

3. The location of morning incense:

Suitable cultivation conditions and regions: open field cultivation in Henan and north areas

Market positioning: it can be used as the main early-maturing variety in the north, replacing the very early-maturing varieties such as Bixiang Seedless, Red Flag extra-early Rose, etc. Excellent quality can be achieved by using the attitude of producing high-end sunshine roses to manage morning incense.

The well-managed Chenxiang is of high quality and belongs to the high-end variety, but the characteristics of this variety have not been fully understood, so it is not recommended to plant it in the southern region.
