Last Updated: 2024/11/13, During the growth of corn, there will be a variety of diseases and insect pests, and pests are the most common, so it is necessary to take good control measures when planting corn insecticides. When will the corn insecticide be hit? Corn insecticides are usually compared before corn heading.

Corn in the growth period, there will be a variety of pests, and pests are the most common, so planting to do a good job of prevention and control measures, then corn pesticides when playing?

1. When is corn pesticide applied?

Corn pesticides are usually best applied before tasseling, 9-10 a.m. and after 16 p.m. When killing insects, effective and harmless pesticides should be selected according to the types, living habits, development stages and crop sensitivity to pesticides, so as to give full play to the efficacy.

2. What are corn pesticides?

Corn pesticides have imidacloprid, acetamiprid, pymetrozine, nitenpyram, thiamethoxam and so on, but due to the variety of pests, so the use of pesticides are more specific to the right medicine. Pest control methods in various periods:

1. Sowing period: mainly to prevent underground pests and diseases spread by seeds.

(1) Seed coating or 50% phoxim emulsifiable concentrate 200- 250g/mu mixed with 25- 30kg fine soil and then applied along the ridge, or 3% phoxim granules 4kg mixed with fine sand and then applied in strips to control underground pests.

(2) seed dressing with 50% triadimefon powder 1kg water 5kg 60kg, or seed dressing with 25% triadimefon at 0.3% dose to control smut and take-all disease.

2. Seedling stage: mainly to control corn aphids, stem borers, spinoderms and zinc deficiency.

(1) Spraying 2000-3000 times solution of 40% dimethoate EC or 40% omethoate EC to control corn aphid and Laodelphax striatellus.

(2) The plots where stem moth and spinoderm occur locally should be irrigated with 500 times solution of 40% dimethoate emulsifiable concentrate or 300 times solution of 90% trichlorfon or 400 times solution of 50% dichlorvos. 2.2.4 0.2%-0.3% zinc sulfate solution 25- 30kg per mu in the slit Foliar spraying at 5 leaf stage can prevent zinc deficiency and enhance plant resistance to disease.

3. Heart leaf stage and ear stage: mainly to control corn borer, armyworm, sheath blight and leaf spot disease, and also to control stripe borer, corn aphid and thrips.

(1) At the stage of big bell mouth, Shabailing No. 1 granule or 105 granule and 0.3% phoxim granule were used to control corn borer.

(2) 90% trichlorfon 1000 times solution or 50% dichlorvos 2000 times solution, 50% phoxim EC 1000-2000 times solution, 40% dimethoate EC 1500 times solution spray control armyworm.

(3) 500-800 fold solution of 70% thiophanate-methyl or 50% carbendazim WP can be sprayed to control sheath blight and leaf spot, or 400-500 fold solution of 70% mancozeb WP can be sprayed to diseased parts or applied to stems to control sheath blight.

4. Grain-filling mature stage: mainly to prevent bacterial wilt, take-all disease and premature senescence. It can be prevented mainly by selecting varieties with strong resistance, ensuring nutrient area of single plant, strengthening field management, improving ventilation and light transmission conditions of maize population and other agricultural cultivation measures.
