Skillful fertilization of red bayberry is the key to high yield and high quality. If the time of fertilization is not properly mastered, the excessive vegetative growth of bayberry is the main reason why the middle and green trees do not bear fruit. The structure of fertilizer also affects the flowering and fruiting of bayberry. What is the best time to fertilize bayberry?

1. The best fertilization time for bayberry trees

The goal of fertilization of red bayberry is high yield, stable yield, high quality and high efficiency. The principle of fertilization is to increase potassium, reduce nitrogen and control phosphorus. It is generally fertilized 2-3 times a year.

Fertilizer was applied three times a year: the first time was from February to March before sprouting, mainly potash fertilizer, combined with nitrogen fertilizer, applying 50 g Liheng water soluble fertilizer per plant to meet the nutrient needs of spring shoot growth, flowering and fruit growth and development of red bayberry; the second strong fruit fertilizer was applied in mid-May, mainly available potash fertilizer, to supplement the nutrient requirements of fruit growth and development and improve fruit quality. The third time is from June to July after fruit harvest, mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by available nitrogen fertilizer, timely supplement of tree nutrients, accounting for about 30%, 30% and 40% respectively.

Fertilizer applied twice a year: the first fertilizer was applied before the first sprouting, accounting for about 40%, and after the second fruit harvest, about 60%.

II. Fertilization methods for bayberry trees

The main results are as follows: 1. Strip furrow fertilization method: a ditch with a width of about 30cm and a depth of about 20-40cm can be dug on both sides of the outer edge of the fruit crown projection, and fertilizer can be applied.

2. Radiation ditch application: this method takes the trunk as the center, digging 4-6 radiation ditches along the horizontal direction of the growth direction of each 30cm inside and outside the crown projection, with a width of about 30cm, a depth of about 20-40cm, shallow inside and deep outside, so as to prevent too much damage to the roots of bayberry.

3. Annular ditch application: generally, the annular ditch with a depth and width of 20-40cm was dug slightly away from the outer edge of the projection of the bayberry crown.

Only by applying fertilizer at the right time can the fruit trees grow better and the quality of bayberry be guaranteed.
