Only by managing fruit trees reasonably can excellent fruits be cultivated. When growing bayberry, you need to take care of it in many ways. What are the key points of bayberry management technology?

Key points of management technology of bayberry

1. Fertilization

Skillful fertilization of red bayberry is the key to high yield and high quality. If the time of fertilization is not properly mastered, the excessive vegetative growth of bayberry is the main reason why the middle and green trees do not bear fruit. The structure of fertilizer also affects the flowering and fruiting of bayberry.

The goal of fertilization of red bayberry is high yield, stable yield, high quality and high efficiency. The principle of fertilization is to increase potassium, reduce nitrogen and control phosphorus. It is generally fertilized 2-3 times a year.

Fertilizer was applied three times a year: the first time was from February to March before sprouting, mainly potash fertilizer, combined with nitrogen fertilizer, applying 50 g Liheng water soluble fertilizer per plant to meet the nutrient needs of spring shoot growth, flowering and fruit growth and development of red bayberry; the second strong fruit fertilizer was applied in mid-May, mainly available potash fertilizer, to supplement the nutrient requirements of fruit growth and development and improve fruit quality. The third time is from June to July after fruit harvest, mainly organic fertilizer, supplemented by available nitrogen fertilizer, timely supplement of tree nutrients, accounting for about 30%, 30% and 40% respectively. Applying fertilizer twice a year: the first fertilizer was applied before the first sprouting, accounting for about 40%, and about 40% after the second fruit harvest.

2. Shaping and pruning

The main results are as follows: (1) for the normal fruiting trees without shaping, the branches in the upper part of the crown are pruned and the lower branches are pruned.

(2) for normal fruiting trees that have been reshaped, just cut off disease and insect branches, withered branches, residual branches, weak branches, crossed branches, dense branches, overlapping branches, etc.

(3) for young bayberry trees, they should be placed first and then pruned, and the shaping and pruning should begin from the third year.

(4) after shaping and pruning, the cut branches and leaves should be cleaned out of the garden in time to reduce overwintering eggs and germs.

3. Thinning flowers and fruits

The main results are as follows: (1) short fruiting branches and thinning flowers: generally from February to the middle of March, for the big year trees with excessive flower bud differentiation, the whole tree is uniformly truncated and 5 fruiting branches, and thin and dense fruiting branches are removed. At the same time, 0.5-1.0 kg of available nitrogen such as urea is applied to each plant to promote vegetative branches.

(2) artificial fruit thinning: fruit thinning is one of the most effective and simple means to overcome the results of big and small years. Artificial fruit thinning, 3 fruit in 6 fruit-bearing branches, 3 fruit-thinning in 3 fruit-bearing branches, generally 2 fruit in each fruit-bearing branch. The big fruit leaves 1-3 fruit and the small fruit 4-6 fruit. And leave less in the upper part of the crown and more in the middle and lower parts, promoting summer shoots and forming fruiting branches.

3. Harvest

The fruit of red bayberry usually ripens from early June to early July. The fruit is easy to rot and fall off when it is ripe and must be picked in time. When harvesting, it is best to collect red in stages and in batches. Harvest time is appropriate in the early morning and evening, when the temperature is low, the loss is less, rainy days or early sunny after rain are not suitable for harvest, otherwise, the fruit is rich in moisture and easy to rot.

4. Post-management

After harvest, we should not only replenish fertilizer, but also clear the garden, clean the fallen leaves of fruit trees and bury them deeply in the soil, one is loose soil to moisturize the trees, and the other is to reduce the damage of diseases and insect pests. After clearing the garden and pruning, the leaves were sprayed with a mixture of 1000 times dichlorvos and 800x methyl topiramate. During the period of shoot emergence, when the spring shoot was just sprouting, the new shoot was just spreading its leaves, and the new shoot was just turning green, the mixture of 1000-fold aphid lice and 600-fold carbendazim was sprayed on the leaf surface.

The above are just a few small points in the management of Waxberry. If you have any specific questions, you still need to consult the people concerned.
