Stem rot is a common disease in the process of crop growth, which often harms the stem base and roots of plants. The incidence rate is 50-70%, and the yield can be reduced by about 20%. So when planting crops, we must control this disease well. What are the prevention and control methods of stem rot?

Method 1. Land selection and land preparation: it is best to select plots with good drainage, such as direct irrigation or gentle slope land or flat land that can be sprayed with water as construction land, and then turn the ground deep around 30cm, so that the soil can be naturally weathered and reduce the source of disease.

Method 2. Appropriate shallow planting: the aim is to reduce the cover of the soil on the stem, and it is generally appropriate to use the nutritious soil that does not cover the seedlings.

Method 3, do not accumulate water: do a good job of the drainage ditch before planting, and if the drainage ditch is blocked in the later stage, it is necessary to dredge the drain in time to avoid stagnant water after rain and reduce the chance of spreading due to running water.

Method 4. Avoid continuous cropping: avoid continuous cropping with vegetable fields or cucurbit crops.

Method 5, appropriate fertilization: before planting, we should pay attention to increase the amount of organic fertilizer, apply organic fertilizer deeply, and reduce the amount of chemical fertilizer or no chemical fertilizer. In high temperature weather, the solubility of chemical fertilizer in the soil is very high, coupled with the high salinity of the soil itself, too much application of chemical fertilizer is not conducive to the growth of roots.

Method 6. Drug prevention and treatment: after the disease occurs in the plant, the soil should be removed in time, and the infected cortex and tissue should be scraped off with sterilized bamboo or knife, and then one of the following drug formulations should be used to smear the diseased part and irrigate the root until the wound dries and does not flow glue.

1. Smear or irrigate the roots with 100-200 times solution of Shidufan + Parkhain + agricultural streptomycin per mu.

2. Use 200 times of carbendazim solution and 50% limewater per mu.

3. Use 200 times of Redomir + agricultural streptomycin + Wanling powder per mu.

Generally speaking, if you want to control stem rot, you need to do a good job of water and fertilizer, land preparation, avoid continuous cropping, appropriate shallow planting, and use chemicals to smear or irrigate roots to prevent and cure.
