O'Neill is a variety of blueberries, it is one of the representative varieties of blueberries in southern high bushes, suitable for cultivation in warm temperate zones to subtropical regions, extremely early maturity and high yield. So how do O'Neill blueberries grow?

First, deep ploughing and soil preparation

One year before planting, the green manure should be pressed deeply and the depth should be 20-25 cm. The soil types that do not meet the requirements of blueberries should be improved before planting so that blueberries can grow normally in the later stage.

Second, planting density

The planting depth of one-year-old seedlings is 15cm to 20cm, and the soil should be pressed tightly to achieve "three supports, two steps and one lift", often using 2 × 2 meters or 1.5 × 3 meters, 1.2 × 2 meters of tall blueberries and (0.5 × 1) × 1 meters of dwarf blueberries.

Third, match pollination trees

Blueberries need to be equipped with pollination trees, and high-clump blueberries and dwarf blueberries have higher self-setting rates, but the allocation of pollination trees can also improve fruit quality and yield. The ratio of main varieties to pollinated varieties is 1:1 or 1:2.

IV. Fertilizer and water management

Fertilization of blueberries is usually carried out before sprouting in early spring, and it can also be added again according to the actual situation. It is suggested that nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium compound fertilizer should be applied, and ammonium nitrogen fertilizer such as ammonium sulfate should be applied. The amount of fertilizer application must be determined according to soil fertility and tree nutritional status. Blueberry root distribution is shallow, like wet soil, need to be irrigated in time.

5. Timely harvest

Blueberry fruit ripening period is different, generally the best harvest time is about 25 days, usually once a week. If it is to eat fresh fruit, it is best to pick it manually, if it is used for blueberry processing, it can also be harvested mechanically, which is convenient and fast.

O'Neill blueberries are suitable for planting in most parts of the Yangtze River Basin in China, setting up orchards that pick orchards or supply fresh fruit markets.
