II. Introduction of Jiahua No.1
Jiahua No. 1 is a medium-maturing late japonica rice variety newly bred by Jiaxing Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Zhejiang Province. It was approved by Zhejiang crop Variety approval Committee in April 2004 and is suitable for planting late japonica rice in northern Zhejiang and similar ecological areas. Through the regional trials of single-cropping late japonica rice in Jiaxing in 2001 and 2002, the average yield per mu was 582.4 kg and 589.6 kg respectively, and the average growth period was 158d in two years, while in 2003, the average yield per mu was 523.9 kg.
Jiahua 1 is a semi-dwarf, dense panicle rice variety with a plant height of about 90 cm, stout stalk, compact plant type, fertilizer resistance and lodging resistance, medium tillering ability, large panicle and many grains, high seed setting rate, and elegant in the later stage. In the regional test, the average effective panicle is 221000 per mu, the total number of grains per panicle is 124and the weight of 1000 grains is 25.8g. Identified by the Institute of Plant Protection of Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences in 2002, the average level of leaf blast was 1, the average of ear blast was 3, the loss rate of ear blast was 5.6%, and the average of bacterial blight was 7. The appearance of the rice is bright and transparent, and the cooking taste is good. After testing, 9 of the 12 quality indicators meet the first-class high-quality rice standards issued by the Ministry.
The variety of Jiahua No. 1 is of high quality and is suitable for planting late japonica rice in northern Zhejiang and similar ecological areas.
