China constructs the "protective umbrella" of grain production in Northeast China

Changchun, December 11 (Xinhua Qi Haishan) A few days ago, a medium-sized plane marked with the words "Chinese Meteorology" and meteorological logo arrived in Changchun, Jilin Province. This high-performance artificial weather operation aircraft will help improve the ability of artificial weather influence in Northeast China, and then build a "protective umbrella" for grain production in Northeast China. It is reported that two more aircraft will be put into use next year.

The aircraft is equipped with the most advanced large-scale dissemination equipment and aerial cloud physics detection equipment in China, it can real-time detect a variety of macro and micro physical data such as the height, temperature, thickness and condition of the operating cloud system, as well as the condensation height in the cloud, the thickness of the supercooled water layer, and the concentration of ice crystals.

In August 2013, China established its first regional artificial weather center in Changchun, the Northeast Regional artificial Weather Center, to promote national economic and social development, agricultural production and income, and ecological environment construction in Northeast China through artificial weather influence.

Wang Xiaohui, director of the Northeast Regional artificial influence Weather Center, said that the scope of operations covers Jilin, Heilongjiang, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia, through the joint operation of regional aircraft and ground anti-aircraft guns and rockets, to provide protection for major activities such as artificial rain enhancement, artificial hail suppression, and artificial forest fire (protection) in the northeast region.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, the total grain output of Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning and Inner Mongolia reached 148.005 million tons in 2015. As the northeast region plays a more and more important role in national food security, frequent natural disasters have become the biggest threat, among which drought has the most direct impact. Take Jilin Province as an example, when the drought is severe, it can lead to a change in grain output of 25-5 million tons.

Artificial influence of weather has become an important means to deal with natural disasters. In 1958, Jilin Province used bombers to carry out artificial rain enhancement operations in order to alleviate the drought, which opened the prelude to the artificial influence of weather in China. At present, the operation scale is among the highest in the world.

At present, the northeast region has initially established a regional integrated artificial weather influence operation system, which is composed of monitoring and analysis, condition forecast, decision-making and command, operation implementation, effect test and technical support. an air-to-ground cooperative operation system covering the whole northeast region composed of aircraft, antiaircraft guns and rockets has been built. It plays an important role in ensuring grain production, forest and grassland fire prevention, hail prevention, fog elimination, water conservation, ecology and so on.
