Bergamot fruit is really ripe when the carpels separate, forming slender curved petals, shaped like fingers, hence the name bergamot. So, do you know how to grow bergamot?

1. Soil

Bergamot is not strict on soil quality, and the sandy loam with good permeability and permeability is the best, followed by yellow-red sandy soil. The new shoots of seedlings can be planted in four seasons after turning green, and the best planting period is from January to May and from August to September.

2. Colonization

After one year of cultivation of cutting seedlings or grafted seedlings, when the seedlings are as high as 50 cm, they can be planted in both spring and autumn, and the temperature begins to warm up in February, and it is better when new buds are about to germinate. According to the row spacing of 40-50 cm, plant spacing of 30-40 cm, and watering the roots, and then watering every 7-15 days.

3. Water and fertilizer

Bergamot is a shallow root plant, the absorption of water and nutrients are relatively weak, so when fertilizing and watering, we should pay attention to increase the number of fertilization and watering, each time the amount of fertilizer and water can be appropriate. It is necessary to apply compound fertilizer in the full fruiting period.

4. Pruning

What we should pay special attention to when pruning is that if the bergamot just planted blossoms, then we need to erase the flowers, otherwise it will affect the growth and development of the plant. Secondly, it is different from other plants in pruning, basically pruning is needed all the year round, because bergamot branches and leaves grow very fast, if there is no reasonable simple pruning, it is easy to accelerate the aging of the whole plant and seriously affect the yield.

5. Weeding

The flowers began to bloom before and after the stinging (March 6). 2-3 strong female flowers were left in one inflorescence, and the rest were removed. In the fruit protection technology, it is generally required to leave 1-2 fruits for each branch, and more should be removed. In the fruiting period, use your hands to pull up weeds around the plant, do not use a hoe, so as not to hurt the roots. After planting bergamot, the soil should be cultivated once a year for 5 years. After pruning and clearing the garden, the soil was covered with a thin layer of grass on the tree plate.

Bergamot fruits began to ripen one after another at the end of August. When the pericarp changes from green to light yellowish green, it should be harvested in sunny days until it is finished in winter.
