Bletilla striata is the name of traditional Chinese medicine. From September to October every year, when the stems and leaves wither, remove the fibrous roots, wash them, boil or steam them in boiling water until they have no white heart, bask until semi-dry, remove the skin and dry them as medicinal materials. Today, I would like to introduce the method of seed propagation of Bletilla striata.

I. selection of land and land preparation

Choose the sandy loam which is more humid, well drained and fertile and loose. Then turn the land deeply, set up a border with a width of 1.3m and a height of 0.2m, apply sufficient base fertilizer, and level the surface of the border after fine ploughing for planting.

Second, accelerating budding

After the towel is wet with nutrient water, put the seeds on the towel, cover with a film, and let it germinate under a moist condition of 20 ℃. Manage carefully after sprouting.

Third, sowing seeds

According to the plant spacing of 15 cm, row spacing of 26-30 cm, hole depth of about 10 cm, put the seeds into the hole, cover with plant ash and level with the border surface.

IV. Field management

The plant of Bletilla striata is short, and weeds are easy to grow next to the plant. Weeding is carried out 1-3 times after 3-6 cm of seedling height combined with intertillage fertilization, mainly sparse human manure and phosphate fertilizer, and soil preparation should be cleared when weeding.

V. harvesting and processing

Bletilla striata was used as a tuber in medicine. After digging up the tuber around October, the residual stem was removed. After the seed stem was selected, the commercial Bletilla striata was boiled in boiling water for about 10 min and constantly stirred until it was taken out. Bake directly or slice until completely dry.

The surface of Bletilla striata is gray-white or yellow-white, with several circles of concentric links and brown spot-like whisker root marks. The quality is hard, not easy to break, and the cross section is similar to white. It tastes bitter and chews sticky.
