Cumin is a kind of perennial herb with special fragrance. It is planted in Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and other places in China, so what is the planting method of cumin?

First, the basic introduction of cumin

The scientific name of cumin is fennel, also known as coriander, fennel seed, grain flavor, incense and so on. The stems and tender leaves of cumin can be used as vegetables and seasoning cumin, which is the dry and ripe fruit of plant fennel.

Cumin is native to the Mediterranean region and is cultivated in various provinces and regions of our country. Its flowers are white or blue-white, with 5-7 single flowers, and double hanging fruits are oblong-ovoid, 5-8 mm long and 2-3 mm wide, containing two yellowish seeds.

Second, the planting method of cumin

1. Select the place

It is necessary to choose loose and fertile sandy soil for planting, and farm manure can be used as the basic fertilizer before planting.

After selecting the planting land, we should also turn the soil over. The soil can be ploughed 20 centimeters deep, and the base fertilizer can be combined with compound fertilizer or farm fertilizer, and 40 jin of phosphate fertilizer and 15 jin of potash fertilizer should be added, which will make the soil more fertile.

2. Sowing seeds

Select a suitable variety of cumin according to the local climate, and then sprout, and then sow after the completion of sprouting.

The specific operation of sprouting is that the selected varieties can be soaked in water and the temperature is kept at about 25 degrees so that the seeds can be germinated and planted.

Dig a small trench five centimeters deep in the soil, sow the seeds in the soil, then cover two centimeters of soil, and then water it. Keep the soil moist so that the seeds can germinate. And when the seedlings grow to five or six centimeters high, the seedlings can be fixed. In particular, the trench should not be too deep, otherwise it will make it difficult for the seeds to germinate. And cover the soil is not too thick, 1 to 2 centimeters can, otherwise the cover is too thick will also affect seed sprouting.

3. Transplanting

The seeds can be transplanted when they sprout and grow to an appropriate extent, and it is best to transplant with soil when transplanting.

4. Other management

Weeding, watering, topdressing and other management should also be done in the process of fennel growth.

Removing weeds can make the seedlings ventilated and grow more luxuriantly. And weeds are also responsible for the breeding of diseases and insect pests.

In addition, it is also necessary to check the growth of seedlings in time, if there is a poor growth and inflamed seedlings should be pulled out in time, otherwise it will bring bacteria and diseases, affecting the growth of other seedlings.

When the fennel grows to the middle stage, fertilize and water the fennel. In the process of growth, it is basically necessary to apply fertilizer three times, and the amount of fertilizer can be gradually increased each time. The amount of watering should be freely controlled according to the humidity in the base area, and watering should be reduced if it is geographically noisy in the rainy season, otherwise it will cause the seedlings to rot and cause death and affect the yield reduction.
