Last Updated: 2024/11/09, Perhaps many people are not very familiar with earthworm farming. In fact, earthworm farming has long been a scale abroad, but there is still a lack of understanding of earthworms in China. Therefore, earthworm farming is not very common in China, and there are still large numbers of earthworms.

Many people may not know much about the breeding of earthworms. In fact, the breeding of earthworms has already become a large scale in foreign countries, but there is still a lack of understanding of earthworms in China, so it is not very common in China. There is still a lot of room for digging.

How to raise earthworms with rabbit dung

1. Rabbit dung must be fermented before it can be used. The earthworms were cultured in fresh rabbit manure, wet fermentation (watering fermentation) and dry drunken rabbit manure (no watering). As a result, all the earthworms released in fresh rabbit dung escaped, while fermented rabbit dung, no matter wet fermentation or dry fermentation, could attract a large number of earthworms.

2. Wet fermentation and dry drunkenness of rabbit manure have their own advantages. Dry fermented rabbit manure is not easy to fail and is easy to store for a long time, but earthworms must be wet with 70% water before storage.

Wet fermentation rabbit manure can be used after 10 days of watering fermentation, and the turnover is fast. So the dunghill occupies a small area.

3. Fermented rabbit manure should not be mixed with border soil to cultivate earthworms. In the experiment, a wooden box about 50 cm long was sawed off, half of which was filled with rabbit dung, and the other half was mixed with rabbit dung and border soil. And then saw off the two halves.

Docking, 10 earthworms on each side. A total of 80 earthworms were tested for 1-3 days and nights each time. The cumulative result was that there were 74 earthworms in pure rabbit feces and only 6 earthworms in mixed rabbit feces.

4. Earthworms can be cultured by accumulating fermented rabbit manure in different sites.

5. Earthworm is a kind of annelid with strong fecundity. during the experiment period of 5 to 6 months, the highest multiple of proliferation was 156.13, the lowest was 54.77,the average was 90.73, and the highest multiple of weight gain was 98.72,27.80,42.75. According to the records of Japanese earthworm expert Saito, earthworms multiply 10 times in 4 months and 100 times in 8 months. Compared with it, the effect of breeding maggot X51 with fermented rabbit dung is very good.

Earthworm is also a kind of annelid with strong adaptability. Although there is a great difference between the highest and lowest records of multiplication and weight gain in this experiment, it is not mainly due to the difference of breeding sites, but because of whether the feeding (fermented rabbit dung) is timely and sufficient and whether the humidity can be kept normal (such as open-air culture). The result of whether there is shade in summer.

6. Earthworm culture with fermented rabbit manure can be adapted to local conditions.

Market Prospect of Earthworm Culture

The rise of earthworm farming has not only opened up a new source of animal protein feed for the development of livestock, poultry and aquaculture, but also found a new way for cities to purify the environment and deal with public hazards, and with the in-depth study of the physiochemistry of earthworms, it can also provide valuable raw materials for food, medicine and other industries. Therefore, the prospect of earthworm breeding is broad.

Earthworms can be used as pharmaceuticals. At present, the international market costs 8-150000 yuan per ton of dried earthworms, or even higher. According to analysis, earthworms contain a variety of medicinal ingredients, such as earthworm, earthworm antipyretic hormone, earthworm toxin, Huang Chuyin, antihistamine, choline, cholesterol, nucleic acid derivatives, B vitamins and so on. At present, lumbrokinase can be scientifically extracted from earthworms for the treatment of cerebrovascular infarction and other diseases, and lumbrokinase oral or injection has been put on the market. Experiments have proved that earthworms can be used for clinical treatment.

Earthworms are saprophytic invertebrates that feed on organic wastes. Many studies have proved that earthworms (powder) have high nutritional value and can be used as high-quality protein feed for livestock and poultry and aquaculture. Earthworms can also deal with municipal waste, purify the environment, accumulate fertilizers and so on, solving the problem of garbage disposal in various urban areas. Raising pigs, chickens, ducks, rice field eel and Loach with earthworms not only grows fast and has good meat quality, but also costs less money.

The living environment of earthworms

Earthworms are variable temperature animals, and their body temperature changes with the change of external environment temperature. Therefore, the dependence of earthworms on the environment is generally more significant than that of constant temperature animals. environmental temperature affects not only the body temperature and activity of earthworms, but also the metabolism, growth, development and reproduction of earthworms. and temperature also has a greater impact on other living conditions, thus indirectly affecting earthworms. Therefore, temperature is one of the most important living conditions for earthworms.

Generally speaking, the active temperature of earthworms is in the range of 5 ℃ and 30 ℃, 0 ℃ enters dormancy state and dies below 0 ℃. The most suitable temperature is about 20 ℃, which can grow, develop and reproduce well. It can maintain a certain growth when 28 ℃ is 30 ℃, stop growing when it is more than 32 ℃, slow down when it is below 10 ℃, die when it is more than 40 ℃, and the optimum incubation rate of worm cocoon is 18 ℃. It can be seen that the maximum lethal temperature of earthworms is lower than that of other invertebrates. The farm is best indoors, in the south, it is ventilated and moisturized in summer, and it can be produced normally throughout the year as long as the windows are closed in winter (the temperature here refers to the temperature of the base material, because the temperature of the air is different from that of the base material, for example: when the air temperature is 0 ℃, the base material temperature is about 12 ℃; when the air temperature is 38 ℃, the base material temperature is only about 28 ℃, this is because the dung contains very high moisture).

The efficacy of earthworms

The movement and excretion of earthworms are very beneficial to improve the quality of the soil, keep the air permeability of the soil good, keep the soil healthy, and play an important role in agriculture. A healthy earthworm can turn over 20-40 tons of soil in an acre each year.

Earthworms can loosen soil, increase soil organic matter and improve soil structure, but also promote acidic or alkaline soil to become neutral soil, increase available components such as phosphorus, and make soil suitable for the growth of crops. As earthworms are rich in protein, they can be used as feed for livestock, poultry and aquaculture to increase production. Earthworms also play a certain role in pharmacology and are common traditional Chinese medicines, which have the effects of antipyretic, antispasmodic, activating collaterals, relieving asthma, reducing blood pressure and diuresis.

Earthworms can secrete a special enzyme that can decompose protein, fat and lignocellulosis. therefore, leaves, rice straw, livestock and poultry manure, domestic waste, activated sludge and scraps of paper and food industry can be its food. Earthworms can eliminate environmental pollution to a certain extent. Therefore, many countries have set up earthworm breeding plants, which are called "environmental purification devices". Because earthworms can absorb trace metals such as mercury, lead and cadmium in soil, the accumulation of these metal elements in earthworms is 10 times higher than that in the outside world. Therefore, some scientists believe that earthworms can be used as monitoring animals for heavy metal pollution in soil.

In fact, before raising earthworms, we first understand the living environment of earthworms, and the second is to understand the efficacy and function of earthworms, which are very helpful to people who raise earthworms for the first time. According to the survey, earthworms are widely used in pharmaceuticals, light chemical industry and aquaculture.
