African giant snail farming

The African giant snail (Achatina Fulica) is a medium-sized terrestrial snail. Adult shell length is generally 7 - 8 cm, the largest can grow to more than 20 cm. Nocturnal, omnivorous, mostly active in humid environments, likes to rain and haunt at night. Usually hide in a cool place, and make a layer of white film (false cover) on the shell mouth, leaving only a small hole to breathe, shrink the snail meat into the shell to prevent dehydration, wait until the environment turns better before coming out.

Food includes crops, trees, fruit trees, vegetables, flowers and other plants. When hungry, they also eat paper and companion corpses. They can even chew and digest cement, which can harm more than 500 kinds of crops. The species is an intermediate host for many human and animal parasites and pathogens, especially tuberculosis and eosinophilic meningitis, and is extremely harmful to consumption. African giant snails can lay 30 to 700 eggs at a time and reproduce quickly.

It is one of the first 16 alien invasive species in China and is included in the List of Alien Invasive Species in China. It is extremely harmful to vegetables and other crops and is a Class II quarantine pest for entry and exit of China.

What do snails eat?

1. Snails like to eat leaves of green plants and leaves of juicy green vegetables, melons and fruits, Teng Ben and other plants (add a small amount of concentrated feed; chicken, pig feed, rice, vegetable cake, rice bran, etc.), and spray the feed with water.

2. Generally feed cabbage, green vegetables, lettuce and other plants in spring; feed all kinds of melon and fruit peel, sugar cane, sunflower leaves, etc. in summer; feed vegetable leaves, potato chips, carrots, etc. in autumn and winter. White jade snails do not eat grass, weeds, refused to eat onions, ginger, garlic, leek, mustard and other odorous food.

3, melons and tubers should be cut into filaments or thin slices to feed, and pay attention to the diversity of food to prevent partial eclipse.

4. In order to speed up the growth rate and improve the egg laying rate, it is best to add crushed wheat bran, rice bran, bean curd residue, yeast powder, bean flour, fish meal, bone meal, shell powder or stone powder to the feed.

5. Common feed formula: rice bran and bran 50%, shell powder 40%, yeast powder 8%. Other (fish meal, bean flour, flour) and trace elements and special additives 2%. Concentrate addition accounts for 10%~15% of total feed. Feeding should be around 6 pm, 20~24 pm peak, the next day at 6 o 'clock stop eating.

Are snails poisonous?

The medicinal value of snails

It is recorded in many ancient books. Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica records snail's morphology, living habits, and properties in the most detailed way. Snail meat and shell can be used as heat, detoxification, swelling, asthma, soft hard, hernia into medicine. Mash dried snails, bake fresh snail meat with tiles and grind to powder. Efficacy: expectorant, clearing away heat and toxic materials, diuretic. Indications: hemorrhoids, sore throat, sore throat, asthma, dehydration, infantile umbilical fever, nosebleeds, deafness, proctoptosis, hernia, sores, etc. Snail processing medicine, can treat children nocturnal urine, red and white dysentery.

Snail enzymes can be extracted from the digestive glands of snails. Snail enzymes, as biological agents for cell wall lysis, have been more and more widely used in cell biology and genetics. It is reported that in one milliliter of snail digestive juice, an average of 100-120 mg dry weight of snail enzyme can be obtained, and the price of each gram of snail enzyme is 25 g RMB.
