Crocodile culture conditions

Breeding crocodiles and other reptiles can make the transition from aquatic to terrestrial life due to the emergence of amniotic eggs. The male and female of the crocodile can be identified by the shape of the scales and the copulatory apparatus in the cloaca. The scales are generally thick and small for males and thin and large for females; the cloaca is triangular with long and red crocodiles in which the long and red crocodiles are male and the short ones are females. Crocodiles mature later, usually more than 3 years old. Crocodiles usually live separately, mate once a year in the breeding season and mate in the water. In terms of the reproductive characteristics of crocodiles, there are two other things that are particularly different. One is the behavior of parental care, and the other is the sex control of young alligators by hatching temperature. According to Niu Cuijuan and others, both females and males of crocodiles have parental care behaviors, such as protecting eggs, digging nests, carrying and luring young crocodiles into the water and protecting young crocodiles. The sex of the young alligator is generally determined by the temperature at the time of hatching. The incubation period is 30 to 45 days, which is the heat sensitive period. The offspring hatched in the range of 28 ℃ ~ 31.5 ℃ were all females, and the male rate of 32 ℃ offspring soared to 66%. The young alligators hatched in the range of 32.5 ℃ ~ 33 ℃ were all males.

3.1 crocodiles are full of mystery in the minds of some people, and even fear that crocodiles are ferocious and terrible animals that pose a serious threat to human beings. In fact, crocodiles are not terrible at all, as long as they understand their biological characteristics and raise them scientifically, their economic value and ornamental interest are endless.

3.2 Crocodile is a kind of animal with strong vitality, but it also has its own physiological characteristics and certain requirements for the environment, and different species of crocodiles have different ecological requirements. Some decision makers or breeders often do not have a full understanding of a crocodile species, or do not make a detailed and accurate assessment of the local breeding environment and tourism resources, blindly introduce and raise, resulting in huge economic losses. Crocodile farming is a long-term investment project, there must be sufficient funds. In addition to adapting to the growth and reproduction of crocodiles, the selection of breeding sites should also pay attention to the convenience of transportation. In addition, we have to consider the matching crocodile processing industry, food development, medical and health care, and so on.

3.3 although artificial breeding, domestication and reproduction of crocodiles have been studied for nearly 50 years, due to different climatic and ecological conditions in different countries, breeding varieties vary greatly, and the development of culture technology is extremely uneven. Generally speaking, crocodile culture technology is still very immature and low reproductive capacity, which not only seriously restricts the breeding scale and production of crocodile, but also makes crocodile skin products expensive for a long time.
