1. Artificial introduction is a measure for breeders to buy leeches from farmers or farms (bases) that have been successfully raised. Varieties should be carefully selected during introduction, and varieties that meet the standards of traditional Chinese medicine should be strictly selected for breeding, so as to reduce blindness and unnecessary economic losses. At present, Japanese medical leeches, wide-bodied golden leeches and brown leeches are the most widely raised. However, no matter which kind of water frog is selected for breeding, it is necessary to investigate and analyze the original farm, and compare it with the one that has been built, and draw the conclusion whether it is suitable for breeding. In individual selection, attention should be paid to the selection of individuals who are lively and strong, full of body, smooth body surface, shiny and elastic. A healthy body not only has a high survival rate and strong resistance to diseases and insect pests, but also has strong fecundity. When introducing varieties, it is best to select excellent varieties from the nearest unit. If introduced from other places, it is best to contact the relevant scientific research departments, seek their opinions, get guidance and help, and reduce unnecessary losses.

Second, field collection (1) the environment and time collected any kind of animal has its own established living environment, separated from the suitable living environmental conditions, or sudden changes in the environment, it will cause a large number of deaths, or even extinction. The living environment of leeches is also fixed after long-term evolution, inheritance and adaptation, so it should be collected according to the living habits of leeches. The environmental places where leeches are often found in the wild, such as places where the current is relatively large, are collected. The best time to collect is during the peak period of leech activity, such as 8: 10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. (2) there are a variety of methods and tools for collecting leeches, so we should adapt to the circumstances, choose and innovate on our own. Generally speaking, two methods can be used: manual direct collection and food lure collection. Luring with food is a labor-saving and time-saving method of collecting leeches, which is set up to catch leeches according to their active season, life law, activity time and smoking habits. According to the habit that medical leeches like to suck the blood of vertebrates, dry bones of large animals can be seduced with fresh pig blood (brown leeches with cow blood). When a large number of leeches climb to the bones, they can be fished out with fishnets to separate the bones from the leeches. Of course, when food is used to lure wide-body golden leeches, the body of molluscs can be used as bait, and when a large number of leeches arrive, fishnets can be used to catch waterlogging. Third, whether it is the introduction of good varieties or the collection of wild leeches as provenances, there is a problem of selecting the good and getting rid of the bad, especially in the process of feeding. The actual purpose of artificial breeding of leeches is to reproduce leeches, that is, to obtain a large number of reproductive offspring, to obtain high yield, and to obtain better economic benefits. In order to obtain high yield and better economic benefit, excellent variety is the key and internal cause in artificial breeding of leeches. The quality of the variety is directly related to the growth, development and reproductive performance of leeches. Among a large number of leeches collected, their health and development will not be exactly the same, so it is necessary to select superior species with strong adaptability, fast growth and high spawning rate in order to improve economic benefits. 4. Collect the egg cocoons of leeches for artificial hatching and collect the egg cocoons of leeches generally in the middle and late April of each year, after a small hole with a pore diameter of about 1.5 cm is found in the moist soil such as ditches, riversides and lakes, the small holes can be dug inward along the small holes, and foam-like leech egg cocoons can be collected. When collecting egg cocoons, you should be very careful not to pick them hard, otherwise the embryos in the egg cocoons will be damaged. The collected egg cocoons should be placed in the incubator in time. The incubator can use ordinary plastic pots, boxes and other containers, and the size should be determined according to the number of eggs released. First put a layer of sand and soil 1cm to 2cm thick in the incubator. The water content of the sand soil is between 40% and 50%. Place the perforated end of the egg cocoon neatly in the incubator and cover the surface with a layer of wet gauze or several layers of gauze to increase the humidity in the incubator. On the outside of the incubator, wrap it tightly with plastic bags (plastic bags for available food) to prevent the moisture in the incubator from evaporating. In this way, young leeches can hatch naturally after about 20 days. Collecting egg cocoons of leeches for artificial hatching is also a simple and easy method to obtain a large number of provenances. 5. problems needing attention in collection and introduction (1) when collecting and introducing leeches in the field, you should take a record book with you, and all matters related to collection should be recorded in detail. For example, the time, place, water area, surrounding environment and so on. If the leeches collected are selected and raised as frogs, they can create suitable living conditions with reference to the records. Through recording, it is also necessary to grasp the occurrence number of leeches in the field and the law of generation occurrence, in order to sum up experience and improve understanding. (2) Disinfection treatment should be carried out whether it is imported provenances or leeches collected from the wild, so as to avoid infection, resulting in all previous efforts wasted or even wiped out. The methods of disinfection are as follows. 1. Isolated breeding put the newly introduced provenances or provenances collected from the wild into a separate breeding pond. After several days of observation, if there is no death or anorexia, wilting, dimming, loss of luster and elasticity, the excreted feces are normal and confirmed to be free of morbid phenomena. It can be put into a normal breeding pond or mixed with other leeches. 2. Before putting the drug into the isolation pond, use 0.5%-1% formalin disinfection solution to clean the leeches. It can also be cleaned with other disinfectants, whose purpose is to eliminate the pathogens of leeches.
