Last Updated: 2024/11/05, There is a problem of keeping species when the soil element changes from wild to artificial breeding. Although the artificial feeding time is not long, because the problem of seed retention is not noticed in the early stage, there is also the problem of provenance degradation, such as the deformation of insect body, the decrease of fecundity, the weakening of vitality and so on.

There is a problem of retaining seeds when earthlings change from wild to artificial breeding. Although the artificial breeding time is not long, due to the lack of attention to the problem of seed retention in the early stage, there are also problems of seed source degradation, which are manifested as insect deformation, reduced egg production, weakened vitality, etc. Therefore, attention must be paid to the following problems when retaining seeds in the future:

1)Female selection female seed should be selected large, oval, full abdomen, bright, strong activity, rapid action, large food intake, no parasites and diseases of healthy female. 2)The collected soil elements of wild insects have been artificially raised, and the provenances of domesticated several generations have deteriorated. In order to improve the quality of the species, some wild soil elements can be collected for seed or crossed with wild males and domestic females. Wild soil element is generally collected from May to September. Take a basin, which contains fried wheat bran, bury it in the place where wild soil element appears, lure wild soil element to eat in the basin, climb down and it is not easy to go up, so it can be captured. 3)Selection of eggs All the egg sheaths laid by a female laying eggs vary in vigor due to the different laying periods. Under normal circumstances, the hatching rate of eggs laid by young adults from July to August is high, and the hatched nymph is robust and has strong vitality. Therefore, the eggs laid during the peak of spawning are kept as seed eggs. The egg sheath shaped like pod, reddish brown, shiny and full can be reserved for seed, while the egg is flat, damaged and mildewed. 4)The male nymph of 8 instars can be picked out or used as human medicine or feed insect for centipede before it grows wings, which not only reduces feed but also increases utilization rate. Such as seed insects, no longer removed, so as not to affect the fertilization rate of eggs. In addition, male insects mature earlier than female insects and have shorter life spans. In production, male insects in the same batch of seed insects to be retained should be selected and mated in female groups hatched 3 to 5 months earlier than them, so that male insects can be fully utilized. Therefore, it is beneficial to the utilization of male insects to distinguish female and male before male insects grow feathers. Female and male nymph characteristics are shown in Table 5. 5)If the purpose of raising earthen is to feed centipede insects, then according to the size of centipede individual to provide different instars of earthen larvae. The method of harvesting is the same as that of collecting wild earthworms, that is, using an enamel basin filled with fried wheat bran. The porcelain basin buried in a corner or edge of the breeding pool, porcelain basin on the edge and the ground level. After smelling the wheat bran, the earthen climbed to the porcelain basin containing wheat bran. When he continued to move forward to the basin, he fell into the porcelain basin. Because the porcelain basin was slippery, he could not come up. After collecting Eupolyphaga nymph, sieve and classify with sieve of different size. The large-instar Eupolyphaga nymph is put into a large-scale centipede breeding pool, and the small-instar Eupolyphaga nymph is put into a small-scale centipede breeding pool, so that the centipede can prey conveniently.
