The survival rate and cashmere yield of lambs born in winter are relatively high, and their resistance is also strong, but if the feeding and nursing is not proper, it will increase the mortality of lambs. The nursing techniques of winter lambs of cashmere goats were summarized.

Colostrum

Colostrum is the only nutrient available to lambs from 1 to 5 days after birth, and the amount of nutrients and immune substances in colostrum is much higher than that of normal milk, which is of great significance to the physical health of lambs. Therefore, the lamb should eat colostrum within 1 hour after birth. As the amount of milk intake of newborn lambs is limited, they should be breast-fed every 2 to 3 hours, and ewes who give birth to twin lambs should let two lambs suck milk near the front at the same time.

Second, artificial supplementary feeding of milk powder

When breastfeeding, it must be fed now to keep it fresh and clean. Fresh milk, milk powder, milk substitutes and lactation utensils must be heated and sterilized before use. Fixed temperature, quantity, timing and quality should be achieved in drinking. The lambs within 4 weeks of life were fed 6 ~ 8 times a day, each time 50 ml, 4 ~ 5 times a day, 100 ml 4 ~ 5 times a day, and 2 ~ 3 times a day, 150 ml each time, about 9 weeks after birth. Under the condition of normal supplementary feeding of lamb fodder, the lambs can no longer be fed after 5 weeks. The days of supplementary feeding for special lambs should be extended as appropriate.

Third, prevent the clogging of wool balls

Born lambs eat wool into the stomach, and over time, it will cause the wool to wrap around each other, clog the digestive tract and cause death. So when the lamb is breast-feeding, the wool around the ewe's breast should be cut clean to prevent accidental eating. At the same time, the wool scattered in and around the sheepfold should be raked and burned with fire.

Lambs can be trained to eat forage at the age of 10 to stimulate the development of digestive organs and promote cardiopulmonary function. Lambs can graze with ewes after 20 days of age. After 1 month of age, the lambs gradually changed to feed mainly, in addition to lactation, grazing, should supply a certain amount of forage, feed. Feed should be diversified, preferably with more than 3 kinds of mixed feed such as bean cake, corn and wheat bran, and hay mainly with high-quality alfalfa and green-cut soybeans. Lambs are generally weaned from 3 months to 4 months old, not more than 4 months old. After weaning, lambs were grazed and raised in groups according to sex and physical strength.

Fourth, do a good job in heat preservation, pressure-proof and tread-proof measures

After the lamb is born, the thermoregulation function is not perfect, the coat is thin and wet, and the skin is thin, so the temperature fluctuates greatly, which is easy to cause cold and pneumonia. In the feeding of large groups, when the ewe is in the same circle with the lamb, it is easy to cause the lamb to be crushed and trampled to death. In order to improve the survival rate of lambs, corresponding measures should be taken.
