Chlamydia disease is also known as bird plague, parrot fever.

[Pathogen]

The pathogen is chlamydia psittaci. Chlamydia is not resistant to high temperature, 55℃ after 5 minutes, 37℃ after 48 hours that is inactivated, the maximum survival of sunlight for 6 days, in water for 17 days. The chlamydia has low sensitivity to acid and alkali, but it is easily inactivated by quaternary ammonium compounds and lipid solvents. General disinfectants such as benzalkonium chloride tincture solution, 70% alcohol and 3% hydrogen peroxide can destroy its infectivity within a few minutes.

[Epidemiology] Chlamydia psittaci is pathogenic to all kinds of birds, with parrot and pigeon as susceptible. Infected birds and carriers are the main sources of infection. The disease can be contaminated by dust and scattered in the air droplets through respiratory tract or conjunctiva infection, mites and other blood-sucking insects can also be transmitted. Since humans can also be infected, pay attention to their own protection. [Symptoms] Due to the different virulence of chlamydia, the clinical manifestations of sick birds are very different, parrot, pigeon and so on can be dominant infection. Sick parrot spirit tired, do not eat, eyes and nose purulent secretions, diarrhea, late dehydration, emaciation. Young parrots often die, while adult parrots recover and carry bacteria for a long time. Pigeon spirit disturbed, eyes and nose have secretions, anorexia, diarrhea, most of the adult pigeons can recover and become carriers. [Prevention]

① To control the source of infection, the introduced new birds should first know whether there is chlamydia in the local area, and can be admitted into the group after isolation observation for 2 weeks.

2. The feces, bedding and feathers of sick birds should be carefully handled, and the cages should be strictly disinfected to eliminate blood-sucking insects and prevent the spread of the disease.

③ available tetracycline (including chlortetracycline, oxytetracycline, erythromycin) treatment, chloramphenicol toxicity can not be used. The therapeutic dose was 2~4 g/kg feed, but it had little effect on recessive infection. Treatment should be carried out under strict isolation conditions, and sick birds should be considered for elimination when the number is small.

4. Feed "Bird Music" No.4 for 5~7 days, 1 g per day.

(5) The effect of Zengnian No. 6 capsule was better.
