Dayu County Forestry Bureau Wildlife and Plant Protection Management Station replied: Chinese bamboo rat belongs to non-key protected wild animals. Artificial domestication of Chinese bamboo rats must apply for wild animal domestication certificate and wildlife management certificate. The domestication and management certificates of non-key protected animals shall be examined and approved by the municipal forestry authorities. The conditions that the applicant should possess: fixed places and necessary equipment suitable for domestication and breeding of wild animals; funds, personnel and technology commensurate with the species and quantity of domestication and breeding of wild animals; the provenance and feed sources of domestication and breeding of wild animals are guaranteed.

The procedures are as follows: first, the applicant shall submit an application to the county forestry bureau, and then submit a feasibility report on the breeding scale, technology, capital, market analysis and other relevant contents of the Chinese bamboo rodent, at the same time, provide the certificate of the legal origin of the Chinese bamboo rat provenance and the photos of the breeding site. It will be verified on the spot by the Wildlife and Plant Protection Management Station of the County Forestry Bureau. To verify that the conditions are met, the applicant shall fill in the application form for domestication and breeding of wild animals and the sale, acquisition and use of wild animals or their products in duplicate, and then the wildlife and plant protection management station of the county forestry bureau shall submit the application form, application form, feasibility report and other relevant materials to the Wildlife Protection Section of the Municipal Forestry Bureau for examination and approval. After passing the examination and approval of the Municipal Bureau, the "two certificates" shall be issued.
