Because centipedes are variable temperature animals, they must hibernate for half a year every year, which greatly prolongs the production cycle of centipedes. In recent years, in order to maximize the benefit of centipede culture, and to push the aquaculture industry to the level of intensive factory production as soon as possible, many areas have carried out centipede winter culture experiments and made some gratifying achievements. The experimental results show that the time from hatching to finished product of centipede can be shortened from 4 years to 5 months by culturing centipedes under the conditions of artificial temperature control and humidity control, which is nearly 3 times shorter. Summing up the available data, we believe that centipede culture in greenhouse in winter must make good use of the following key technologies:

1. Humidity control

This is the main technical key to heating and breeding in winter. Due to the large temperature difference between inside and outside the breeding house, and between the ground temperature and indoor temperature, the air convection is serious and it is easy to make the moisture evaporate. In particular, the soil can maintain a humidity of 20%. The relative humidity of the air should be adjusted to about 70%. The main facilities to maintain humidity are: sprayers, straw curtains or gunny bags hanging above the culture pond, and keep moist regularly. The moisture supply to the breeding soil depends on spraying water to the soil surface, and the water permeates downward, allowing the centipede to freely choose a suitable area to inhabit. In addition, as the winter centipede is often cultured in three-dimensional multi-level culture ponds or troughs, more attention should be paid to this problem in the upper culture ponds or grooves.

2. Temperature control

Heating is a necessary condition for raising centipedes in winter. The centipede cultured in the greenhouse in winter should keep the room temperature at 25 Murray 32 degrees Celsius, and pay special attention to not causing the air temperature to rise and drop sharply. Otherwise, the centipede will die in large numbers due to indigestion and metabolic disorders.

The main heating facilities are:

(1) when adding smoke pipes to the coal stove, it is best to prepare two sets of smoke pipes to avoid a sudden drop in temperature when changing coal.

(2) Burning Kang plus ground dragon or fire dragon. There is more fuel for water pump in this way, but it can be combined with the habit of burning Kang in winter in the north. This can be taken into account when designing a winter shelter.

(3) radiator. For farmers who have heating supply or industrial waste heat, this is a more convenient condition because it is safer, hygienic and convenient.

3. Bait supply

When centipedes are raised in winter, the supply of bait is a difficult problem, because in winter, most of the bait animals of centipedes are in hibernation and are difficult to find or capture. To solve this problem, we can only rely on matching breeding of bait animals, or select a special site to store bait animals before winter.
