In terms of individuals, the contribution of rams is the same as that of ewes, but in terms of groups, the contribution of rams is 100 times greater than that of ewes. Only first-class and second-class rams can be reserved as breeding sheep. Biological phenotype = heredity (G) + environment (E), so it is very important for an excellent ram to provide good feeding and management.

1) feeding and management techniques in non-mating period:

① appropriate exercise, enhance the spirit of the ram, enhance the physique, improve semen quality, improve the breeding value of sheep, one month before breeding, combined with semen collection, the ram had better exercise two kilometers a day.

② in the non-breeding period, the ram has two meals a day, hay is free to feed, and the mixed concentrate is gradually increased from 0.4kg/d to the breeding period. The adult ram is fed with concentrate 1-1.5kg every day, 0.3% sodium bicarbonate is added to the feed, and the rumen alkali storage is increased.

③ one month before mating, bred rams weighing up to 40kg can take part in semen collection, once a day, twice a day, for two days, one day off, and 18-month-old adult rams. Semen can be collected four times a day, each time at an interval of two hours, for three consecutive days, and one day off. And regular inspection, find the problem, solve in time.

④ should be dewormed, hoof trimmed, immunized and ready for mating at this time.

⑤ semen collection ram should meet the needs of four reflexes of climbing, erection, twitching and ejaculation, and establish a good conditioned reflex. Make sure that the temperature in the fake vagina is 40 ℃ 42 min.

2) feeding and management techniques during the mating period:

① ram needs 50g protein to produce 1ml semen. During the breeding period, the crude protein in the diet should be not less than 100ml 150g, green juicy feed 1-1.5kg, and hay should be eaten freely.

When ② mating frequently, one more egg and 50ml milk should be fed every day to ensure the quality of semen.

③ keeps testicles clean and hygienic, removes dirt and scabs in time, and improves semen quality.

From ④ to the later stage of mating, it is necessary to timely reduce the feeding standard and strengthen exercise to prevent and control ram obesity.
