At the beginning of toad breeding, adult clams can be caught from the wild around Qingming every year and raised as seed clams. Every spring after the sting, clams will frequently sing and appear female clams hug behavior. At this time, the male and female clams should be paired in time, the ratio is 1:2~3, and transferred to the mating pool. Female clams lay eggs in still water. The egg bands attach to aquatic plants and other objects. The number of eggs laid at one time is 3000~5000, and the number of eggs can reach 10,000. Incubation temperature is 22~26℃, after 3~5 days to hatch tadpoles. Fish, frogs and snakes should be prevented from entering the hatchery pool to harm egg belts and tadpoles. The tadpoles hatched for 1~2 days should be transferred to the tadpole pond in time, and gradually fed with protein-containing food after 7 days of age. In order to promote early oviposition and emergence of toads, mature toad pituitary gland can be injected into female clams with abdominal enlargement in spring (one mature toad pituitary gland is ground and injected intramuscularly or intraperitoneally with 1 ml physiological saline). After 30~40 minutes of cuddling, eggs can be laid. If it is combined with luteinizing hormone and human chorionic hormone, the egg stimulating effect is better.

Hatched tadpoles eat egg membranes first, and 2 to 3 days later begin to eat plankton and other organic debris in the water. After 7~10 days of age, egg yolk fine powder (or made into thick slurry) can be scattered in the pool. At the age of 20~30 days, livestock manure, bran, pig blood, broken animal viscera and other feeds can be fed 1~2 times a day, and the feeding amount is about 5% of the total weight of the clam population. When the clams are young, they need to eat more. Young clams have the ability to prey on insects and aquatic organisms and plant food, so they should be raised in different ponds according to their size. Growing into clams stage, but also feed tender grass, vegetables, bran, concentrate feed. Feed is mainly put on land or shore, if put in water, should be set up in 10 cm underwater bait platform. Young and adult clams feed mainly on shore.
