The abortion of Tibetan mastiff bitches can be divided into two categories: infectious and non-infectious. The former is caused by Escherichia coli, staphylococci, fetal vibrio, Brucella abortus and other infectious diseases. In the latter, deficiency of progesterone, insufficient formation of corpus luteum and abortion at 2 to 5 weeks of pregnancy, premature abortion at 6 to 7 weeks, and abortion at more than 7 weeks were mostly caused by insufficient placental function. Miscarriage can also be caused by abnormal placental structure or fetus itself, malnutrition or older bitches, pregnancy toxemia, trauma and other causes.

Dystocia common pelvic abnormality, hypoplasia, fracture healing and so on: unicorn uterus, vaginal narrowness or deformity and so on. Maternal malnutrition and anemia lead to uterine contraction weakness and obesity or aging uterine weakness, delivery uterine rupture, newborn dogs are prone to dystocia. The fetus is too large, the fetal position is incorrect, fetal malformation and so on are also prone to dystocia.

Miscarriage is due to the birth of less than a month without any warning. If it is caused by toxemia of pregnancy and the dog has symptoms of anemia, habitual abortion can be seen that vaginal blood-like secretions last for 5-6 days. After abortion, some dogs eat their puppies, while others do not eat their pups.

When it is difficult to give birth, the dog makes a painful bark, is in low spirits, and cannot give birth to a fetus even if it is urinated frequently.

Treatment: for miscarriage and can not protect the fetus of the dog, should be eliminated, can not leave seed for use. For dystocia, oxytocin, 10~300ml or 10% calcium gluconate 10~30mL should be injected intravenously first. If the fetus is abnormal, the birth canal is narrow and amniotic fluid is lost, the fetus should be removed surgically. A long 8~10cm incision was made in the abdomen, the fetus was removed from the uterus, then sutured and injected with antibiotics for 3-7 days.
