Last Updated: 2024/11/22, Iris virus disease is more common in puffer fish and adult fish cultured at high water temperature. By Giemsa staining, the iridovirus disease occurred simultaneously with botulism and vibriosis. It was bacterial and parasitic fish disease.

Iris viral fish disease is more common in puffer fish juvenile and adult fish culture in high water temperature period. The observation of iris virus in diseased fish by Giemsa staining showed that iris viral fish disease occurred at the same time as miscellaneous botulism and vibrio disease, and it was a viral disease caused by bacterial and parasitic fish disease.

[symptoms of iris viral fish disease] the body color of puffer fish blackened to brown, visual observation, it is common for fish to swim slowly or unable to swim vertically on the surface of the water; the body surface and fins of puffer fish have bleeding, similar to bruises, and most diseased fish eyes are white and turbid. Dissection of the diseased puffer fish shows that the spleen is enlarged and black, and sometimes fades to pink. Giemsa staining was used to observe the pathological sections of the spleen, and it was found that most of the splenic cells were hypertrophic in ball shape.

Prevention and treatment of iris viral fish disease. At present, there is no specific drug treatment for iris viral fish disease, mainly based on prevention. First, the management of puffer fish breeding should be strengthened to control the water environment of puffer fish farm. The second is low-density aquaculture, where the water temperature at the peak of the disease is between 22e and 23 ℃. Once the fish suffer from monozoite skin parasitic disease, they should be dewormed or replaced in cages in time, and the puffer fish should be reared in the sea area where the puffer fish is raised for more than 24 ℃. Third, when the water temperature is above 24 ℃, it is necessary to relatively reduce the amount of feeding, feed appropriate amounts of nutrients such as vitamin C and immune liver enhancer, so as to improve the disease resistance of fish. Fourth, in the sick stage of puffer fish, stopping baiting has an effect on reducing the death of diseased fish, but it is also necessary to carefully try to feed all kinds of antibiotics according to the situation in order to achieve the purpose of treatment.
