A variety of fish diseases have occurred in freshwater Pomfret, some of which cause great harm and high mortality. A "rotating disease", once this disease occurs, if not treated in time, it will lead to a large number of seedling death. When the disease was first discovered, it was sprinkled all over the pond with fish and shrimp carbendazim, Baiyanjing and other drugs. After that, cut tobacco and salt were used to treat the disease, and remarkable results were obtained. The symptoms and medication of the disease are introduced as follows for readers' reference.

1. Symptoms: emaciation, blackening and non-feeding of diseased fish. In severe cases, the surface of the water floats counterclockwise or turns head down and tail upward, sometimes intermittently swam sideways and sunk to the bottom, and then die after repeated several times. The disease has a strong outbreak, and all of them will die if not rescued in time. The disease occurs during the overwintering of fish species, and the cause of the disease is unknown.

2. Treatment and dosage: 1 m water depth per mu of water, 250 to 300 g cut tobacco (moldy), soaked in boiling water for 4 hours, sprinkled with dregs and juice in the whole pool for 3 consecutive days, and then sprinkled with salt in the whole pool on the 4th day, so that the salt concentration in the pool water reached 3%. After 24 hours, add fresh water to the original level. After a week, use the same method to treat again to consolidate the curative effect.

Through the above measures, the death of diseased fish decreased on the second day after application, stopped dying after 7 days, and returned to normal after 7 days. This method has been used to treat diseased fish in several fish ponds with the same effect.

3. Experience and discussion: ① cut tobacco contains toxic substances such as nicotine and tar, which has a strong killing effect on bacteria. Using cut tobacco to prevent and cure fish disease, no obvious toxic effect on fish was found, and the curative effect was significant. Cut tobacco has a wide range of sources, low cost, and will not pollute the farmed waters. ② freshwater Pomfret lives in water. Once the disease occurs, it is difficult to diagnose and treat it correctly. Therefore, the principle of "prevention without disease and early treatment with disease" should be adopted to eliminate pathogens and other pathogenic factors in aquaculture water as far as possible. The etiology and pathogen of ③ are not clear and need to be further studied.
