Freshwater Pomfret is a large economic fish with both food and ornamental in tropical and subtropical zone. It has the advantages of miscellaneous food, fast growth, large body and less diseases. Pond culture generally lives in the middle and lower layers of the water body, and its hypoxia tolerance is stronger than that of ordinary fish, and the dissolved oxygen is required to be more than 3 mg / L. Food habits are partial to animal feed, artificial feeding can be fed with soybeans, pellet feed, animal scraps and so on. The optimum growth temperature is 2432 ℃. The main breeding time is from May to September. When 50 grams of fish are released in May, the market size of 500 grams and 700 grams can be reached in 3 months.

Pond condition

1 to 10 mu ponds can be farmed. The water depth is more than 1.5 meters, the silt at the bottom of the pond is about 10 cm thick, the water quality is fresh, the water source is sufficient, and the drainage and irrigation is convenient. Each pond is equipped with a 3 kilowatt aerator. Disinfect the pond with quicklime a week before the fish are released.

Seedling selection and purchase

Farmed seedlings were purchased in early May. For early listing, seedling specifications are generally required to be about 50 grams.

Stocking density

The main cultivation of freshwater Pomfret is generally 700 fish per mu, 50 million silver carp per mu, and 300 fish per mu.

Feed feeding

During the feeding period, hard pellet commercial feed can be fed, with a particle size of 3mm and a crude protein content of 30%. Using automatic feeding machine for feeding, feeding twice a day, that is, 9: 00 a. M. and 3: 00 p. M. It can also be fed with soybeans and soaked in water 6-8 hours before feeding, until the middle of the soybeans is full. It can also be fed with animal scraps such as chicken intestines. The daily feeding rate is adjusted according to the changes of water temperature, water quality and fish growth, and generally accounts for 3% to 10% of the total body weight of pond fish. Every 1-2 days, add some vitamin-rich melon peel, vegetable leaves and other green fodder.

Daily management

Persist in patrolling the pond every morning and evening to check the changes of fish eating, activity, growth and water quality, and timely measures should be taken to solve abnormalities. Inject and change water every 5 to 7 days to keep the water quality fresh; persist in the "Siding" feeding work and put an end to feeding moldy, deteriorated and rotten feed. In the hot weather from June to September, the aerator is turned on for 1 hour at noon every day. In case of muggy weather and other sudden weather conditions, measures are taken in advance to prevent fish from floating.

Disease prevention and cure

Freshwater white Pomfret has strong disease resistance, usually rarely get sick when the water temperature is above 25 ℃, and the survival rate is generally more than 95%. When the water temperature is about 20 ℃, it will often be infected by pathogenic bacteria, or cause parasitic diseases, such as melon disease, ring disease, rotifer disease, etc., especially small melon disease, if not treated in time, a large number of fish will die in a short time, so it is necessary to do a good job in the prevention and control of fish disease. The use of trichlorfon, malachite green and other drugs is prohibited.
