I. Habits of life

Mandarin fish is a typical carnivorous fish, in artificial feeding, can feed dead fish, dead shrimp and so on. The male fish is mature at the third age, and the female is mature at the fourth age. Its growth speed is relatively fast, reaching 50~100 grams in the first year, about 0.5 kg in the second year, and 1~1.5 kg in the third year.

II. Pond conditions

The pond for breeding mandarin fish adult fish should have an area of 3~8 mu, a water depth of more than 1.5 meters, and a water depth of about 2.5 meters in summer. The bottom quality is preferably sandy loam, with less humus, sufficient water source, fresh water quality, and running water. The dissolved oxygen in the pool water is required to be more than 5mg/L, the PH value is 7~8, and the transparency is more than 30 cm.

III. Breeding of bait fish

The breeding area of bait fish is 3~4 times that of mandarin fish pond. From the palatability of mandarin fish and economic point of view, bait fish generally choose silver carp, crucian carp and other varieties, stocking density for mu fry 300 ~ 500 thousand. After the fry are raised, they do not need to be fed immediately. When the zooplankton population decreases and the fry are foraging around the pond, they start to be fed soy milk or other feeds. In the early stage of cultivation, feed should be added when eaten up, and in the later stage, the size of bait fish should be controlled, and the length of bait fish should be controlled between 1/2 and 1/3 of the body length of mandarin fish.

Generally stocking 8~10 cm mandarin fish species, bait fish should be controlled at 3~4 cm.

IV. Breeding of mandarin fish species

800~1000 mandarin fish species with specifications of 8~10 cm can be put in each mu when raising mandarin fish alone. Can also be mixed in mandarin fish pond breeding some fast fish, as live feed. Generally, 200~400 pairs of Luofei parent fish or 60 second-winter crucian carp are stocked per mu. The fish pond is divided into two halves by thin net, one side raises mandarin fish and the other side raises other fish, so that the reproduced young fish can pass through the thin net to become food for mandarin fish, and the activity of mandarin fish does not hinder the quiet reproduction of other fish.

V. Feeding management

1. Feeding: The method of feeding bait fish at intervals is adopted. In the early and late stages of breeding, feeding once every 7~10 days, feeding once every 5 days or so in the middle stage, the quantity ratio of mandarin fish to bait fish should be maintained at 1:5~10. Too little bait fish will affect the feeding and growth of mandarin fish. Too much bait fish will easily cause hypoxia floating head, which is unfavorable to the growth of mandarin fish.

2. Water quality management:

To often add new water, especially in June to September, every 5 to 7 days to add new water once, each time 15 to 20 cm, so that the pool water to keep fat, live, cool, tender, promote the healthy growth of mandarin fish. Submerged plants such as bitter grass and verticillata can be planted around the pool to provide hidden places for fish and purify water quality. Sprinkle quicklime water once every 15~20 days, 15~20 kg each time. Timely reasonable oxygen machine, to increase the dissolved oxygen in the pool water, to prevent fish hypoxia, at the same time should prepare some oxygen agent, can be used in fish hypoxia floating head rescue.
