Mandarin fish is a typical carnivorous fish, only eat live fish, live shrimp, monoculture mandarin fish need to culture feed fish, high technical requirements, if the mandarin fish is raised in the adult pond, we can make full use of the water body and remove the wild miscellaneous fish in the adult pond.

In recent years, some farmers have reported that the survival rate of mandarin fish raised in adult ponds is very low, some are almost zero, and they have lost confidence in mandarin fish culture. Through the investigation and analysis of mandarin fish pond, the main reason for the low survival rate of mandarin fish is that the size of mandarin fish is small, the body length is less than 3 cm, the feeding ability of fish is poor, and the ability to adapt to the environment is relatively weak; second, the stocking capacity is large, some 80 fish per mu, coupled with the lack of palatable feed, easy to cause cannibalism; third, the pond water quality environment is poor, often anoxic Fourth, the prevention and treatment of fish disease is not timely and does not pay attention to the way of medication and so on.

In the culture and production, the following measures can effectively improve the survival rate of mandarin fish in adult ponds: (1) improve the stocking specifications of mandarin fish to ensure that the body length of mandarin fish reaches more than 5 cm when they go into the pond. (2) according to the feed source and quantity of mandarin fish fry in the pond, generally release 20,30 fry per mu, and put appropriate amount of green shrimp, crucian carp or tilapia before putting them into the pond to let them reproduce naturally, ensure that mandarin fish have sufficient fresh feed such as larvae when their body length is 5cm to 10cm, and feed fish properly when the body length of mandarin fish reaches more than 10cm to ensure an adequate supply of feed fish. (3) strengthen water quality management, regularly inject new water, use microecological agents and bottom modifiers to improve water quality and bottom quality, make rational use of aerator, achieve "three open and two do not open", and transplant a small amount of water peanuts to purify water quality and create a good growth environment. (4) to strengthen disease prevention and "give priority to prevention and the combination of prevention and control", first of all, we should do a good job in cleaning and disinfection of fish ponds, and secondly, when using drugs in other fish, we should consider the sensitivity of mandarin fish to drugs and pay attention to the dosage.

In a word, when mandarin fish are raised in adult ponds, they should be reared scientifically according to their biological characteristics in order to obtain good economic benefits.
