Experience of artificial domestication of bait for cultured Pelteobagrus fulvidraco

Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is a carnivorous fish. in the past, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco mainly lived in ponds and lakes as wild miscellaneous fish. feed on small fish and shrimp, insects and larvae of various aquatic insects (especially mayflies, Chironomus larvae), prawns, small mollusks and other aquatic invertebrates. With the improvement of people's living standards and the adjustment of aquaculture structure, Pelteobagrus fulvidraco has been propagated and cultured on a large scale as a high-quality fish in China. However, the amount of natural bait in the water is limited, so the key to develop the large-scale culture of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is to solve the artificial domestication of bait.

The two commonly used domestication methods are introduced as follows:

First, animal bait domestication from the market to buy small fish, shrimp, snail meat, such as mashed into a paste, after dissolving water, sprinkle along the pond to induce feeding. After gradually reducing the scope of sprinkling, slowly luring Pelteobagrus fulvidraco to feed on the bait table. In general, after 7 days of domestication, it can achieve the purpose of feeding animal bait at a fixed time and at a fixed point (twice a day). However, the cost of raising Pelteobagrus fulvidraco in this method is high, and sometimes the loss outweighs the gain. Generally speaking, the cost of bait accounts for about 40% ~ 60% of the total cost. The feed coefficient of snail is 60, calculated with 1.2 yuan per kilogram of snail, the bait cost for each kilogram gain of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco is 36 yuan, which is obviously higher than the market price of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco in most areas, so it is necessary to develop compound bait for domestication in order to reduce the culture cost.

2. According to the requirement of high proportion of protein in the diet of Pelteobagrus fulvidraco as carnivorous fish, the generally designed feed formula is as follows: 45% Peruvian fish meal, 10% soybean cake powder, 15% vegetable cake powder, 15% secondary powder, 10% miscellaneous grain, 2% yeast powder, 1% rapeseed oil, 2% attractant. At the beginning of domestication, 10% compound bait can be added to the original animal bait (fish, shrimp, snail minced meat). After 2 days, the compound feed can be increased to 20%, and the animal minced meat can be reduced by 10%. After 20 days of conversion, all animal surimi bait can be stopped and used instead. In this way, not only the source, quantity and quality of bait can be guaranteed, but also its cost can be greatly reduced, so it is easy to form scale production and produce scale benefit.
