Prevention and treatment of common poisoning diseases in farmed meat ducks

1. Aflatoxin poisoning

(1) the cause of the disease: meat ducks eat feed containing aflatoxin, that is, cause the disease.

(2) Clinical symptoms: the disease is mainly characterized by damage to the liver of meat ducks. the diseased ducks gradually lose their appetite, grow slowly, depilate, limp, twitch, and show angled arch before death. The mortality rate of the disease can reach 100%.

(3) Prevention and control measures: there is no effective drug treatment for the disease. As long as the feed containing aflatoxin is stopped, the disease will stop soon. Therefore, in the hot and rainy season, feed should pay attention to anti-mildew.

II. Poisoning by sulfonamides

(1) the cause of the disease: taking sulfonamides for too long or too much dosage will cause sulfonamides poisoning in meat ducks.

(2) Clinical symptoms: the acute poisoned ducks showed symptoms such as excitement, refusing to eat, diarrhea, spasm, paralysis and so on. The chronic cases were characterized by depression, loss of appetite, diarrhea and soy sauce-colored stool. Diseased ducks have hemolytic anemia, reduced egg production or soft-shell eggs.

(3) Prevention and control measures: stop taking sulfonamides and feed 1%-5% soda water at the same time.

III. Salt poisoning

(1) the cause of the disease: accidentally eating (drinking) feed containing too much salt (drinking water) will cause salt poisoning.

(2) Clinical symptoms: diseased ducks have loss of appetite, increased thirst, mucus from mouth and nose, mental fatigue, weakness of both feet, difficulty in movement, frequent paralysis, dyspnea, and singing restlessness.

(3) Prevention and control measures: immediately stop feeding salty feed and drinking water, give sweetened clean drinking water, and feed more green feed.
