The experience of raising and managing grasshopper
I) the biological characteristics of grasshopper
Grasshopper is a medicinal and edible insect, laying eggs, belonging to Insecta Orthoptera, Acrididae. According to statistics, there are 859 species of grasshoppers in the family Acrididae, but only two species can be used as medicine for food, namely, the East Asian migratory grasshopper and the rice migratory grasshopper. Grasshoppers are rich in protein, carbohydrates, insect hormones and other active substances, as well as vitamins A, B, C and phosphorus, calcium, iron, zinc, manganese and other elements. Grasshopper is not only a delicacy, but also a good medicine. Grasshopper can be used alone or in combination to treat a variety of diseases, such as tetanus, infantile typhoid, fever, asthma and so on. Grasshoppers are dioecious, naturally mate, lay eggs and reproduce twice a year under natural conditions, that is, summer locusts and autumn locusts.
II) Construction of grasshopper breeding shed
The breeding shed should be built in a ventilated and sunny place, the ground of the shed should be about 10 centimeters higher than the surrounding ground to facilitate drainage, the soil had better be sandy loam to facilitate the laying of grasshopper eggs, and grow Monocotyledon plants such as wheat or corn on the ground of the breeding shed to prepare for grasshopper consumption. The construction area should be determined according to the number of grasshoppers, and it takes about 15 square meters for every 10,000 grasshoppers. Angle iron, wooden sticks and other supports are used to build the shed, and then according to the size of the shed, the screen is used to make the shed, the bottom edge is buried in the ground, leaving the door, and the door is locked to prevent the grasshopper from running out and people in and out of the shed. The height of the shed is 1.5 to 2 meters. For heat preservation and rain protection, plastic sheeting can be covered outside the shed. In order to raise grasshoppers under natural conditions, the construction of the shed must be completed by the end of April.
III) feeding and management of grasshoppers
The suitable development temperature of grasshopper is 2532 ℃, the relative humidity is 85% and 92%, and the soil water content is 15% and 18%. When it is lower than 14 ℃ or higher than 40 ℃, the grasshopper gradually stops eating and dies. When the temperature reaches 2830 ℃, grasshopper eggs begin to hatch, first prepare non-toxic soil and sawdust according to 1 ∶ 2 mixing, water content of 20% 30%, spread 3-5 cm of soil in utensils, and then spread grasshopper eggs on the soil, cover with about 1 cm thick mixed soil. Finally, the utensils were covered with a film and checked every half day. After finding the grasshopper, the grasshopper was brushed to the food in the shed with a soft brush and hatched after 10 to 15 days. The newly unearthed grasshopper likes to eat fresh and tender wheat seedlings, corn seedlings, weeds and other monocotyledonous plants, but the food intake is very small. Grasshoppers at the age of 1 and 3 should pay attention to the protection against rain. it takes about 27 to 35 days from unearthed to adult, during this period, the grasshopper molts once every 5 to 7 days, and the grasshoppers after 5 years old gradually begin to mate and lay eggs, and each grasshopper lays about 70 eggs. In order to feed and reproduce eggs, grasshoppers like to live in groups and migrate, so grasshoppers should give appropriate interference after Eclosion to before spawning, so as to improve the quantity and quality of spawning. Before freezing, the eggs laid should be covered with some wheat bran, weeds and other heat preservation and moisturizing to prevent frost cracking. Adult grasshoppers in the growing period should be sold in time if they are not seeded.
