Hedgehog is a cute little animal, although it has a prickly armour, but gentle, not aggressive, its appearance is very rich in cartoon characteristics, not to mention the childish hedgehog baby, even the appearance of adult hedgehogs is naive, so what is the method of artificial breeding hedgehogs? Let's have a look together!

The resources of wild hedgehog are insufficient, and now it can not meet the needs of medicine and food, so it can be cultivated artificially. The technical introduction is as follows:

① builds gardens. Hedgehog garden house should be built on one side of the courtyard, or at the root of the wall or in a secluded place behind the house. When building a garden house, first use brick or stone to form a small garden, with a wall of 0.8 meters high. Then build a small house of 5-6 square meters in the garden with strict requirements on the top and all around Rain Water. The house is covered with soft hay, leaves and other things for nesting. In the open space to build some mounds, or put some random stones, tiles, bricks and other things; you can also build a small rockery for activities, food, habitat. The size of the garden area and the number of houses should be determined according to the number of breeding.

② is used for domestication. Hedgehogs like to climb out in the evening to find food and return to the hiding place the next morning, so they can be caught in the morning and evening every day. Catch it and put it into the built garden house to raise it. Hedgehogs are very adaptable and will not affect mood and feeding because of the change of residence. Hedgehog is an omnivorous animal with a wide range of feed sources, and there is almost no food it does not eat. the animal feed commonly used are insects, rats, aquatic products, earthworms and other small animals, as well as a variety of livestock and poultry meat and viscera; plant feed has corn, dried melon, sorghum, barley, wheat, oats, wheat bran, bran cereals, as well as a variety of melons and fruits, vegetables, wild vegetables, wild fruits and so on. The above kinds of feed can be fed alone or with several combinations, and it is better to be fed with them. A little salt should also be added when feeding. The material can be fed once every evening. But the amount of material should be appropriate each time. In general, the amount of feed is about 25 grams of small hedgehogs, 50 grams of medium hedgehogs and 100 grams of big hedgehogs.

③ mating and reproduction. Hedgehogs usually reproduce by natural mating. During estrus, the female hedgehog shows unease, crawls back and forth, and there are secretions in the vulva. After 30 days of conception, the weight increased significantly, about 50 days later, it was very bulky, and the pudendal edema. Look for grass to make a nest before delivery, and give birth on the 60th day of pregnancy. Each female hedgehog generally gives birth to about 5 cubs, with a maximum of 8. The survival rate of hedgehog is very high, almost 100%, and its vitality is very strong. The newborn hedgehog has a smooth body and weighs about 15 grams. Open your eyes about 15 days after birth; grow teeth in 25 days and can walk; eat in 35 days or so, lactation period is 60 days. The weight of hedgehogs can reach about 350 grams at the age of 100 days. this period is the fastest growing and developing period of hedgehogs. It is necessary to carefully manage and strengthen feeding so as to lay a good foundation for improving the quality of hedgehog skin.

Feeding method of hedgehog

Hedgehogs have miscellaneous feeding habits. Animal feed mainly includes insects, rats, birds, fish, frogs, snakes, earthworms and animal internal organs; plant feed includes crushed rice (crushed corn, sorghum), flour (wheat bran, bran flour, corn flour), melons and fruits, etc.

When feeding, mix the animal and plant feed in proportion, cook and add a little salt, and put it all at once in the evening, requiring that the protein content in the diet is not less than 30%. In the initial stage of domestication, wild hedgehogs should be based on animal feed, accounting for 90% of the diet. In the future, we should gradually reduce the amount of animal feed and increase the proportion of plant feed, and the feed must be fresh and clean. Melons and fruits and other feed should be cleaned, especially to prevent pesticide poisoning; do not feed rotten animal offal, dead fish and so on. The feed had better be cooked and fed now so as not to deteriorate. In a word, keeping the feed fresh and clean and reasonable collocation of meat and meat is the key to raising hedgehogs artificially.

The amount of dietary feeding should be determined according to the different growth and development periods and seasons of hedgehogs, the diets of hedgehogs with a general weight of 50-150g are 50g, body weight 150-300g, diet 75g, body weight 300-600g, diet 100g, hedgehogs grow faster in summer and should be fed more; feed less in winter and less in winter sleep.

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and can be fed with feed and water at one time before and after evening. The feed can be mixed evenly and cooked manually. Formula: corn meal 30%, wheat bran 20%, fine rice bran 10%, fish meal 5%, vegetable 30%, bone meal 2%, iodized salt 1%, oxytetracycline powder 1%, amino acid 1%, trace elements appropriate.

If the newly caught hedgehogs in the field are artificially domesticated, animal feed should account for 80% of the diet, and then gradually reduce as appropriate, and increase the proportion of plant feed. Feed must be fresh and clean, and melons, fruits and vegetables should be washed and fed. For example, melons and vegetables bought from the market should be soaked in the pool for 1 hour, and then washed and fed to prevent pesticide poisoning. At the same time, the variety of feed should be diversified, and a single feed will cause hedgehogs to bite each other and refuse to eat.

The dietary standard for hedgehogs is 50 grams for Japanese food weighing 50 grams to 150 grams, 75 grams for Japanese food weighing 150 grams to 300 grams, and about 150 grams for 300 grams to 600 grams. Hedgehogs eat a lot in summer, grow fast, dormant in winter and eat little.

Disease prevention and treatment of hedgehog

Hedgehog has strong disease resistance, as long as the management is strengthened at ordinary times and the hygiene of the breeding place is maintained, it is generally rare to get sick. The common diseases of hedgehog are gastroenteritis, dermatosis and ascariasis.

The hedgehog suffering from gastroenteritis has dull thorns, weak walking, diarrhea and refusing to eat. Can reduce the amount of feed, feeding oxytetracycline, each one crushed and mixed human feed, fed 3 times a day. Gentamicin can also be injected into the buttocks of 25000 units each time. The hedgehog suffering from tinea can remove whitening dandruff skin and can be rubbed with tinea ointment and skin light ointment. You can also soak cut tobacco in vinegar for 24 hours and then add trichlorfon (crushed and mixed) to wipe the affected part. Hedgehog suffering from ascariasis, loss of appetite, sleepy and weak, can be fed with Ascaris net, 2 times a day, 1 tablet each time for 2 days. Hedgehogs that do not suffer from ascariasis should also be dewormed twice a year to ensure the healthy growth and fecundity of hedgehogs. Check whether the hedgehog is strong, look at the glossiness of the thorns, see whether the body is plump, and look at the tightness of the thorns.

To often observe and check the feeding and growth of hedgehogs, found that sick hedgehogs should be treated in time. Hedgehog suffering from gastroenteritis, its thorns have no luster, lack of walking, refuse to eat, diarrhea. The treatment is to take Tumisol 3 times a day, 0.25g each time, the face, legs, back of the hedgehog with tinea, whitening and broken skin, can be externally rubbed skin easy ointment or tinea ointment treatment. The hedgehog suffering from ascariasis lost appetite and showed drowsiness and fatigue. The hedgehog was fed twice a day with 2 tablets each time.
