Hedgehog has strong adaptability and lax requirements on the environment. However, hedgehogs have the habit of being quiet and afraid of light, and the site should be built in a quieter place to avoid human interference as far as possible. A courtyard must be built when the yard is built. The wall of the courtyard is about 0.8 meters high. The inner nest is divided into two parts: the inner nest and the outer nest, which are covered with hay, pine leaves or straw. The outer nest is an activity place, where soil is accumulated or rockery, flowers and shrubs are planted for summer shade and winter warmth at the top. Make it as close as possible to the wild environment for foraging, mating and roosting. Generally, a 10m square meter farmhouse can keep 50 houses of 30m.

III. Feeding and breeding

Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and can be fed with feed and water at one time before and after evening. The feed can be mixed evenly and cooked manually. Formula: corn meal 30%, wheat 20%, fine rice bran 10%, fish meal 5%, vegetable 30%, bone meal 2%, iodized salt 1%, oxytetracycline 1%, amino acid 1%, trace elements appropriate. If the hedgehog newly caught in the field is artificially domesticated, the animal feed should be 80% of the diet, and then gradually reduce as appropriate, and increase the proportion of plant feed. The feed must be clear, fresh and clean, and melons, fruits and vegetables should be washed and fed. For example, melons and vegetables bought from the market should be soaked in the pool for an hour, and then washed and fed to prevent pesticide poisoning. At the same time, the variety of feed should be diversified, and a single feed will cause hedgehogs to bite each other and refuse to eat. The daily feed standard for hedgehogs is: 50 grams of Japanese food weighing 50 mi 150 grams, 75 grams of Japanese food weighing 150 mi 300 grams, and about 150 grams of Japanese food weighing 300 mi 600 grams. Hedgehogs eat a lot in summer, grow fast and sleep in winter, then eat little. Domestic hedgehogs should have one male and one female nest. Generally in April-May natural estrus mating, the annual production of 1 Mel 2 babies, 2 Mel 4-year-old hedgehogs have the ability to reproduce. Hedgehog gain weight after 35 days of fertilization, slow movement about 45 days later, mild perineal edema, looking for grass to make a nest before delivery. The newly born hedgehog has soft thorns and no hair, stands up for about 20 hours, and makes a squeak. The newborn weight is 13,15g, and the baby hedgehog gives birth to three days of soft thorns become hard, gradually increasing, 10-day-old eyes open, 20-day-old teeth age and can walk, 30 days or so can eat, lactation period 40 times 50 days, 3-month-old hedgehog average weight can reach 320,350 grams, monthly average weight gain of about 100 grams, between lactation and lactation 100 days. Hedgehog is the fastest growing stage, should be carefully managed to ensure and improve the quality and width of the skin. When the hedgehog grows up, peel off the skin and dry it and sell it directly to the local medicine department.

IV. Disease prevention and treatment

The common diseases of hedgehog are gastroenteritis, dermatosis and ascariasis. Hedgehogs suffering from gastroenteritis, with dull thorns, weak walking, diarrhea and refusing to eat, can reduce the amount of feed, feed oxytetracycline, one tablet each time crushed and mixed into the feed, 3 times a day, or gentamicin, 25000 units each time; the hedgehog with tinea, dewhitening skin, can rub tinea ointment and skin light ointment, or add trichlorfon (crushed and mixed) to the affected part after 24 hours of ester soaking tobacco. Hedgehog suffering from ascariasis, loss of appetite, sleepy and weak, can be fed Ascaris net, 2 times a day, 1 tablet each time for two days. Hedgehogs that do not suffer from ascariasis should also be dewormed twice a year to ensure the healthy growth and fecundity of hedgehogs. Check whether the hedgehog is strong, look at the glossiness of the thorns, see whether the body is plump, and look at the tightness of the thorns. The thorns are shiny, the body is symmetrical and plump, and the thorns are loose and tight properly, indicating that they are robust and disease-free, and can be selected for breeding.
